Hi all i have a set of plans for this micro cat that is designed by Jay Turner and was published in the June 1998 RCBM magazine .I have 28mm B/L outrunner and inrunner motors and Hughey .098 flex shaft and hardware sitting in the shop . Has anyone ever built this catamaran and run it ! Regards Andris Golts .

Decades ago, I built a scaled-down to 18" version of the slightly larger XS hull. I built a miniature Hughey-style gearbox and ran two Graupner Speed 300s (5000Kv) on 8-800Mah NiCds. The motors/batteries filled up the entire center section of the hull, which places ALL that weight fairly high up in the hull. The result? It ran great down the straights, but would immediately roll over in anything but the most gentle of turns.

My recommendations for this hull? Keep the weight as low and spread out as possible. I realize the sponsons are film-clad foam blocks (mine were clad with 1/64 ply), but you may want to consider some way to get the batteries in the sponsons before sheeting/covering them. Maybe some openings where the sponsons attach to the hull body.
