    Default Backlash equiptment

I'm considering a Blazer Marine Backlash build to run in T class IMPBA. it is 48.5 by 22 3/4 weight say 13.5 lb RTR in gas . I know a 2716 works well. It will be FE . Does anyone here run one or have suggestions on motor, esc, etc. it can use up to 43.3volts?

    Hello and welcome to OSE.

There are several people who have built T class sport hydro's. Try using the search function and you can view what's been built in the past. I quickly grabbed a couple of these threads:

Pretty sure the Backlash isn't legal for FE sport hydro. It would race against the riggers.

How is that Terry? If it's legal in Gas? How do our rules differ?

FE doesn't follow the LSG rules, they piggy back off of the Nitro rules. In turn the rules for transom width is different between the 2 power sources.

I'll check with the FE director and get back to you. By the way do you know what the 65% rule is? I read a comment on that dealing with the Backlash.

Yes, Longballer aka Mike is the IMPBA FE tech director.

Out of curiosity does anyone know if the Whiplash is FE legal?

The Backlash isn't legal for FE sport hydro in either NAMBA or IMPBA due to the transom width being less than 65% as wide as the sponson opening.

I always thought it would be cool to build one as all the Blazer boats are pretty killer but that 65% rule doesn't exist in gas. That;s what the boat was designed for. Still a hydro just not an FE sport hydro.

Mike is the IMPBA FE director. We've talked about the BL before. NAMBA has the same 65% rule.

I have an older 10s whip (gas size) about 12 years old at least. Run it with a NEU 2220 on a x462. Runs about 68 mph in oval trim and only 6600 mah.
Can get about 8 laps out of it. Never race it anymore. No one runs Open Sport Hydro. I have a few Open Hydros that are faster.
