    Default Delta Force 41 mono.

Hi guys, l?m interested in building a DF 41 in FE. Just wondering what combination of motor, ESC, props and batteries that members have built. Doesn?t necessarily have to be a DF, any combination of a similarly sized hull would be appreciated. Won?t be racing just sport running, looking for 55-60MPH. Thanks in advance.

considering selling my H&M No step4, its about 40" and runs about 85mph on 10s, could easily come down to 8s. built like a tank. but its a lehner 3060 40.160 (would be keeping) 10s SLS Quantum 65c 457 / 460 prop.

Simmo, the DF hulls are great running monohulls. The 39" and 41" lend themselves to 6 cell setups very nicely. You can go mild to wild in this size hull. Look for motors between 40-60mm in diameter with a kv between 1100-1400. 1200 is a nice sweet spot for 6 cells.

A great combo would be a Castle 1717 motor with OSE Raider 150 ESC on 6S2P.
    Other good motors are: TP4060, TP4070, Neu 1527, Neu 1530, LMT 2260, LMT 2280, LMT 3040, Leopard 56XX.
    Other ESC options: Hobbywing 160A pro, SF240, SF300, MGM 28026, MGM25063 Castle ICE/EDGE 200 converted to water cooling, Schulze 40.160WK or 32.200WK.

Do a search for "Q mono", "DF39" and "DF41" and you will find some good setups.

Some pics of my DF39 Q mono. This is an upper end build, but great performance can be had with much less.

    Thanks RaceMechaniX.
I was thinking along the lines of a 5694 motor 1200-1400 Kv, 200 amp ZTW or Swordfish running 8S with a 448 prop. What do you think?

    Simmo,
That's a very large motor and a lot of kv for 8S. I don't think a 200A ESC will support that. You will want a 300A ESC with that large of a motor. If you want 8S and a 200A controller, try the 4092 1050kv and the same prop.

Thanks Tyler, will look at the 4092 and 200A ESC combo, don't really want to overspec the boat.

That 8S setup is definitely overkill for 55-60 mph. Too many newer boaters get hung up on big Kvs and high rpm. Listen to Tyler’s Kv recommendations. You don’t need 40,000 rpm to go 60 mph....lower rpm and larger props are more efficient, and safer.

I had a nice 40" mono I ran in q Mono a few years back in MI. I took 3rd place. THe boat at first had a 5694 1200KV SSS motor and a SF240 on 6S2P and my inexpensive cells melted down... Was still learning and it was my first 6S boat. I then tried the shorter 5684 1200kv SSS and that with a Prather 235 or similar got me a third place. The boat ran really nice. The setup was not too expensive and I could never get the motor or esc to heat up. It was doing a decent 55- 60mph.

Thanks Guys for the info. I would be interested in trying a 1200KV motor on 6S. What size prop, 450-452? I have found that my best set up is 1650KV on 6S with a 447, generally get around 55MPH on a 32 inch mono with reasonably low temps. But even this sounds like too many RPM's ?

A 1200kv motor is a nice sweet spot for Q power. Depending on the current rating of the controller and batteries you can run something in between a X450/3 up to a X457/3 or X452 up to X460. The larger prop sizes will be pushing 200-240A at competitive speeds. The smaller props should be in the 180-200A range. These recommendations are for 6 lap heat racing setups with 8,000-10,000mAh of decent cells. For a 4070 size motor the X450/3 is a great starting point. This is a heavy build which keeps the boat pretty planted for heat racing water. You could also build a lightweight Q mono with 5,000-6000mAh and a smaller motor like a TP4060, but it will be light in rough water.

A 1500-1600 kv motor can be used with smaller props, but they are quite sensitive to load so be cautious over proping.
