hello, anyone here have a FE backlash that can share how they place their batteries? I'm using 10s 4p having an issue fitting everything under the hood. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions

How many packs is the OP using? Capacity? 10S with 4P seems like a lot of battery...

The OP is most likely running four 5S 5000mAh packs in his boat. Two packs get wired in series for 10S 5000mAh each, then those pairs are wired together in parallel for 10S 10,000mAh. This configuration would be considered 10S2P.
10S4P would be four 10S packs in parallel, or four sets of 2x5S packs ... a lot of weight regardless.

Thank you for the response .
My experience is with the similar Whiplash, but if you can fit 10S2P/10,000 mAh in the BL that would be good. 7000 mAh total is probably a safe minimum for heat racing. What speeds are you expecting? With that low Kv motor an x470 would be a place to start, in a properly trimmed hull that should get you into the 60s. A more aggressive ABC prop will up the speeds considerably....if you can find them. Something like a 2618 or 2816 should work, although my experience is with higher Kv motors.Jay, Trying to fit 4 revo 5s 5,000 mah packs. Don't think I can get by with 5,000 mah. I got the TP 5680. 65O KV. What do you think? Thanks JT

Both the Whiplash and Backlash run better with a lighter weight systems closer to that of a gas motor.
Too much weight from large batteries and the current will just keep increasing to meet the same speeds, by that point you have diminishing returns.
I have raced a 10S1P 6000mAh FE Thunderboat which could run 8 laps and no more so 7000-8000mAh would be ideal.

May have to give up on this project, can't fit 4 5s lipos in and have room for esc. water lines and wires. Only 5s lipos over 7000 mah I can find are hobby star, never heard of them. All the brand name ones I can find are the size of 2 5000 mah
Any suggestions? I'm sure 4 batteries will be to heavy. Thanks
What about 4x-5S 3300mAh. RoaringTop has a 5S 3300mAh size pack. https://www.roaringtopusa.com/70c-33...is-70c-3300-5s
They also have 6S and 4S in the same 70C 3300mAh size. You might be able to put the ESC on top of the 4S 3300mAh packs.
Dinogy has 5S 4000mAh 65C cells. https://www.dinogylipos.com/collecti...00mah-5s-65c-1
I highly recommend looking up all the batteries and make wood blocks that are the same dimensions. This will allow you to check placement and configuration while only spending a couple bucks on 2x4's.
If you have a 3D printer, you could also print some shells to model the different pack sizes.
Hobbyking has Nanotech cells available in 3300mAh in 4S and 6S. They also have graphene packs in 3000 and 4000mAh. I love this cells for 2P configurations.
Plenty of options.
