Motor Losing Signal

Hey Guys, I?m hoping to get a decent answer other than ?Throw it away and spend some more money?.😕 So, I bought a cheaper, Favourite Sea Shark 200a 12s Esc for a build which I have never used before. I?m also running a 930kv motor on 10s with this setup. The instructions don?t come with much information and the website is mainly in another language. Just in case this happens again down the road, some technical information would be great. The ESC is fine when just throttling up and down at a normal rate but once I start tapping the throttle rapidly the motor gets confused and starts screaming. I?m not sure if this is an ESC or a motor problem and I would like to fix it if possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

My first suggestion would be to re-solder all the connectors between the Motor and ESC.
Second, try raising the frequency rate of the ESC.
Third, if rapidly tapping the throttle causes it, and it doesn't happen in normal use, stop rapidly tapping the throttle.

What motor is it?

Ok thanks. The motor is a HobbyStar 4082 930kv. I usually stick to similar systems but this is more of a budget build test. It’s in an old Genesis Hull that I got for $50 so I figured I would try something different. It takes a few raps of the throttle before it freaks out and I thought maybe it was a timing issue.

The OP hasn?t given us much to go on. What are the settings on the programmer?

- PWM?
- Timing?
- LVC?
- Start power?
- Stall protection?
- Throttle delay/ramp?

Does the ESC have a brake setting?

Settings are:
Forward Only
Start Acceleration "Soft" (Very Soft/ Soft/Hard)
Motor Timing is 20 (Factory ESC Setting)
Start Power 37 (Factory ESC Setting)
PWM "Low"
Min. Throttle "1000"
Max Throttle "2000"
Center Throttle "1488"
LVC is 3.0V
No Brake Setting
The Throttle Settings are what appeared after reading the ESC again today. There appears to be an Import File also that altered the Throttle and PWM settings once I opened it. It wouldn't allow me to change the Start Power or Timing after it installed. The PWM went to High and the Throttle Min. Max was very different. I set it back to what I shared originally for now.

If the motor is a 2- or 4-pole, what is the wind - Wye or Delta? I would try the following settings, one at a time:

- reduce timing to 10*
- reduce start acceleration to soft
- increase PWM to medium

Otherwise, while it seems obvious try avoiding blipping the throttle.

Ok I can reduce the timing but the acceleration is already at Soft and the PWM only allows for Low or High. It’s a 4 Pole motor and it’s a Wye. I’ll give it a run to see what happens on the water and I’ll definitely avoid rapid throttle taps.
