Setting up a 1/10 scale shovelnose, 1500kv Himax 4s. What kind.of speeds are you guys running? I'm only getting 33mph so far, need to know where I need to be to be competitive.
Thanks

Should be probably 45 maybe 50 depending on the hull and setup. Who made the hull? Got any video of it running?

It was built by Leonard Feeback.(spelling?) No video, running by myself
45 sounds doable I've got to move my cg back I think

CG should be about 1 inch to 1.5 inches being the aft of the sponsor? Up load some pics of the strut, bottom and of the motor

What's it weigh ready to run?

Ok I personally would support the stuffing tube more right up to where the shaft exits the tube.
Is there a bearing in the stuffing tube?
Where did you have the batteries located?
Also looks like maybe the prop may be a little deep?
A single 4s pack or 2 2s packs?

No bearing or bushings on the tube, only bushings on both sides of the strut. I run 2 5200 2s on the velcro, I ran them as forward as I could not wanting to blow over. Is there a specific depth for the strut in relation to the bottom of the sponsons?

Took a closer look and put the prop shaft in without the strut bushings. Not only is it off center, but the angle of the shaft is off by a degree of 2 from the angle of the strut. So the strut bushings are applying pressure on the shaft. I don't know how straight and centered is normal? What is the angle supposed to be for shaft in relation to the bottom or maybe to the sponson bottoms?IMG_20200518_165852.jpgIMG_20200518_165519.jpgIMG_20200518_165420.jpgIMG_20200518_165658.jpgIMG_20200518_165736.jpg

With the batteries all the way forward was it real nose heavy?
I don't like that the shaft does not line up with the motor well that is a problem.
When you install the shaft does it go smoothly into the coupler?

Its not perfect, I am going to make another brace to get it smooth. But I need to know if you think I should cut the tube out and redo it to reduce the strut bushings pressure?

It was nose heavy
The strut is brass and it was easy to tweak it ban into place. It's so soft it probably got bent a little in shipping. Now just need to make a support at the end of the stuffing tube. Then the shaft should run true. Then back on the water moving the cg back a little at a time!
Thanks for the help Jim!

if you plan on racing I would buy a good aluminum strut
