    Default MHZ Racemaster build...

    Hello guys.

Just returned from a small trip to a guy with waaaay to many boats in his workshop..
Well, i wanted to buy some small parts and stuff as he is clearing out to make room for more and i ended up throwing a MHZ Racemaster C-AFK hull in the back of the car + the other stuff i first went to pick up.

Now im roaming around the big interweb in search of hardware for this puppy... Im thinking a single prop setup, with a inline rudder.
Electronics might end up at a Leopard or ThunderPower motor and Swordfish ESC.

What hardware should i go for on a hull like this?
    Size, brands and so on...
Its a little out side my normale size of boats, so i am a bit green here
    Cheers - Frank

For electronics the Swordfish is an excellent choice. For the motor I would consider either Leopard or Neu. The TP motors are good too.

I would use Speedmaster hardware. If I were you I would consider going with an offset rudder but if you are dead set on the inline setup I think Speedmaster offers an inline setup as well. This is what I would use for the rudder. That should be the right size for your build. Then you?ll need to pick out your strut (I would also go Speedmaster for this), trim tabs, and turn fins. Everything you need is sold here on the OSE site. Hope this helps!

Regarding offset Vs inline, i have been looking into that. But i cant seem to get a clear picture of the pros and cons. Some say one thing, and others state the opposite..

I do get that offset is the way to go for oval racing. But as i wont be doing any racing, but purely Pond fly-by's, that will not have any influence :)

Some say inline makes the boat unstable. Others state it made the boat more stable going from offset to inline. So im a bit out in the woods here.

    Those Speedmaster parts look good.
As i am Europe, MHZ/MTC, TFL and Werner hardware is a bit easyer to get. But i am looking into Speedmaster also :)

The Rudder you are refering to, is also a inline type as far as i can see. Looks good.

The offset rudder usually gets better cooling water flow, you can go faster, they track in a straight line better, and it turns better. The only con is having to drill a few more holes in your transom.

I've had the chance to see some MTC hardware in person before and I can say they make some stunningly good looking hardware. So if you have the cash that would be my first choice. My cat has TFL hardware on it, and it works well with no problems but it is nowhere near as nice looking as the MTC stuff. MTC appears to make a real nice looking inline setup. I have heard good things about Werner as well.

TFL Hobby hardware, trim tabs are RC Boat Blitz, Flex shafts are OSE:

With one BL motor setup, prefer center rudder with more weight on the left side:

Anybody know what 1:1 hull this most resembles?
Doesn’t look like outerlimits, definitely not fountain... anyone?

    Got parts... now for surgery!
Counter rotating props (38mm) will probably need to be cut down to the 35mm stock size. Maybe not if run on 3s per motor.
    Here’s mock up of transom.

Hope this is some inspiration Frank, while you wait for parts.

That is one sweet looking boat you got there, Jesse! I love the looks of those TFL outdrives! I cant wait to try mine! Are you gonna run them on 3S or 4S this time?

Beautiful, red TFL outdrives and red RC Boat Blitz trim tabs are perfect.

What motors do you use and what is the maximum RPM for the TFL outdrives ?

My experience with these drives and desire for scale rather than gps speed makes me NOT want to change the motor nor prop diameter (although I may look for a pair of comparable red motors). These SSS motors are smallish 2200 kv motors of marginal quality, so I’ll try on 3s and maybe 4, depending on handling.
The Stock normal rotation props are 35mm and to fit the 4mm shafts and counter rotating pair limitations, I had to go with 38mm. I will be sharpening and possibly trimming them down. I have a pair of 3blade 36mm... but for 1/8” shaft size.

Anybody know where I can get a pair of 36mm counter rotating 4mm props? (That’s not in a super long shipping delay country.)

    36mm propellers for 4mm shafts, pitch=1,4

    pitch=1,9

    RC Boat Blitz shop

I think that you can run motors 30000 RPM unload with 4S batteries, 2000kV.

Edit : TFL 36mm pitch=1,4 for 3/16 shaft works with this adapter https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...prod=ose-83400

Rcboat blitz.. website says no exports.. 1.9 pitch? Ugh too much work for this system.. I’ve seen these options and more.
I’d rather trim down 38 mm than overload these guys with high pitch props.
    Thanks tho.

Happy with turn out. Not looking to break any speed records on first run.
Still need to sharpen and trim down props, get her balanced and increase water flow before trying 4s.

Jesse, where have you found best CG with this hull? I have mine on the table in layout phase. Sw 220, Castle 1100kv motor and 4s for rough water I?m thinking. 45?ish prop

    Hey Shawn,
I’ll have to dig out the packs and measure to be sure, but I wanna say 28-30%. I’ll take a look and update if needed.

That sounds like an 8s set up.. I wonder if it will even get up on plane on 4S?

I have a healthy sized lake that I frequent, winter is breezy and rough at times and summer is popular with boats. I‘m thinking this hull will be fun on that water. The motor is an outrunner so don’t wanna push the heat much. But you have a valid point. I do have 5 and 6s packs as well. Perhaps I should set up 30% with 6s packs. Lots of room to move weight forward, not so easy to get it back.
