The offset rudder usually gets better cooling water flow, you can go faster, they track in a straight line better, and it turns better. The only con is having to drill a few more holes in your transom.
I've had the chance to see some MTC hardware in person before and I can say they make some stunningly good looking hardware. So if you have the cash that would be my first choice. My cat has TFL hardware on it, and it works well with no problems but it is nowhere near as nice looking as the MTC stuff. MTC appears to make a real nice looking inline setup. I have heard good things about Werner as well.
