    Build an outboard boat?

    Hello

I'm wanting to build a boat that uses an outboard motor. Electric of course, but I would like something like a tunnel boat, catamaran, or a hydroplane. Not something to rave with, but I really dont want a V hull boat. If I had to get a V hull, I'd probably go with one that would fit a 2 stroke in it, or something with a jet drive.

Anyways, I'm wondering what all need to use an outboard. What parts do I need to hook it up. Obviously I'll need am esc, motor, hull, reciever, servo, and something for the outboard, but that are all the parts for that?

I'm looking at a 36" tunnel boat on ebay, or a 43" fast cat. The tunnel boat would be cool, always had a thing for them.

As for an outboard tunnel I would recommend 34" or larger using a K&B .45 outboard lowerhttps://www.mecoa.biz/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=148 part #50-4803
    and a Hypeformance https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...pi-eobck75-5mm

A lot of smaller tunnels have been converted using P/limited motors. They are fast but tend to go upside down easily. The larger hulls will be much more seaworthy. I would recommend not going larger than a 40mm X 74mm motor. 4S around 2000kv and 6S 1250-1600 kv. I have a 36" Vision that holds records with a larger motor but staying with a 40X74 1600Kv on 6S using a cheap 150amp ESC will still run 50+mph easily. Stays on the water and plenty fast. You can always power up later but staying conservative will make it easier to set up and prop correctly. You need a 180 + oz of torque servo to steer. https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...od=pow-lw-20mg (minimum)
    Hope this helps.

So this 36" would be fine

      I would be running 2 or 4 3s packs, I have 6 5200mah 50c ones I can use

So 6s if I had to go that route 2x2 if I need more capacity (which I probably will)

What would I need to mount the outboard though?

Thanks! I didn't realize it was theirs. I ran the race at Brandon in FL. I won a raffle prize. It was a PTI PX-335 Tunnel Kit.
