I wish I could have been there too! Seems everyone is running hot set-ups now. Not sure I can even compete anymore!

Are you using the castle 240 esc? If you can find a way to get the esc temps to stabilize and not continuously rise, then maybe it would be OK? I have the same problem. The cooling on those things is not adequate IMO. Mike Ball did a really nice upgrade. I'm hoping to do it soon.
Castle xlx with tubing soldered directly to the buss bars. Max temps I'm seeing is 175-180. But what's weird is I'm not getting that when the boat comes in. So idk how accurate the temp data is.

Had a chance to run the new V12 design again last weekend. Not sure if it's in the geometry of the hull or the cowl, but the boat has an amazing ability to hover for a long time without blowing off. At first I thought it was just a fluke, but it repeatedly does it! I tried to slow the video footage down to demonstrate below.

Typically, hulls like this reach a point and then snap off without even giving you warning, especially at these speeds (70mph). This new design is a blast.....

If you watch closely, it looks like it's bleeding all the air out and then settling.

I'm getting the same kind of data on my little Mamba X in LSH. Comes off the water at 110 or so degrees on the gun but the data log says 195. Maybe internal temps? Nothing seems angry.

Pete, what version is the boat you cut for me that has the wide innards? I still haven't run it. Probably make Tyler drive it some so we can learn before I wreck the danged thing.

It's the one part of the data that's throwing me off. Other than that the rest of the data I'm semi happy with

Check the inside of the motor mount rails. I usually put a serial number and version. If not, it could be an imposter! :)

Was talking to Terry last night. Tyler's older version hull also has this ability to 'hover' prior to blowing off. Thinking it could be attributable to the leading edge not being blocked by the nose cone (new canopy design). Tyler's doesn't have a nose cone either.

Here is the full video of the V12 btw:

    Pete
    Your video from post #183
Looks like it is dragging the rear-end a little bit.
A little bit of Down on the strut. or even down on the rear of the strut for a little Negative angle.(2 degrees)
Remember - If you do the above, it will automatically do the statement below.
If the turn fin is lifting out of the water on the straight's' angle the rear of the turn up a little,
so the hook bits a little instead of running up on the bottom of it. (1 degree at a time)

    Thanks Larry!

BTW, those slo-mo vids were actually taken from THIS video with the 1814 prop:

Larry, the tunnel on this is so shallow it always looks like it's dragging. I worried it wouldn't break free when he first brought it out. Not sure you ever saw it but the hull I called the Joule had that problem. Ran like a vacuum cleaner. Pete's breaking free. Just looks weird.

The 1814 that I borrowed from Tom wasn't even pulling as much current as the H5. Was also 2mph slower. When I ran the original 1814 that Terry gave me, I gained 6mph and quite a bit of current to go with it, so I agree, something wrong with that prop. Probably cut down too much on the diameter.

Larry, I've been running a custom wind TP motor with 2400KV. 4S2P. Typically I run the H5 prop for 70mph. The original 1814 was running 76mph, but drawing too much current for every day heat racing.

And yes.....the boat is very low profile. The lower the cg, the better for turning. That's why I've always been a strong supporter of super light vacuum formed cowls.

Hi Eric. Unfortunately, the new cowl will not work on your boat. The deck curvature is different.

He wasn't really pressing. Not very close to the pins. We wanted to know if it would make the laps as he broke his batteries at the last race. Clipped a couple buoy resulting in extra laps and angry cells. Everything was manageable temp wise after this run.

BTW I timed laps on Ty's LSH. Human eye, fat thumbs, blah blah blah. I had him at 11.05 to 11.96 seconds/lap for 6 laps. Pretty slippery that one. Think I have video of that one somewhere.

Good news. The first saleable V12 P-Sport is on the way. If everything looks OK, I'll give the green light to have the rest of them made. So, if you're on the list, it won't be long now. Thanks!
