Default Want to build a P limited hydro!....and race it!

After years of running/racing nitro boats, I really want to build and race a FE!!! I have a 20 Whiplash that I have framed and skinned the bottom on some years ago, and now I want to finish ......! I cant remember and have no idea what motor/esc/battery to use, what hardware to get and where to get it, and how to lay the stuff out in the hull.....in short, im completely lost!!!!!And I aint getting no younger!! Any and all help would be so greatly appreciated, any drawings, any advice would be wonderful! Many Thanks, Bill

Good choice for a first FE race boat. A few ideas are in the links below. You should check with the club you will be racing with for advice on the motors etc. which they allow. Some clubs have slightly different rules than the National organization.

AFAIK, the UL-19 should work in the P Limited class, depending on your local club rules.

Legal for NAMBA P limited out of the box.

IMPBA doesn't have limited rules so you would need to find a club that has defined some. Those can vary from club to club.

    Bill,
At this point District 3 has 5 electric classes. P/ltd Mono & Cat. P Cat/Mono and Q Cat/Mono and P hydro. The FE contingent until numbers grow larger may not add classes. Right now an offshore limited class which uses existing boats may be next or we are looking at a single motor Q limited mono/cat class that would have a 40X74 motor limit which would allow many RTR's like Sonic Wave, Genesis. Pursuit and Spartans to compete without 300+ESC's and large motors. Low amp ESC's will work here. The Castaways Club at the Villages run a P/lmt hydro class locally.
Now for P Hydro. We left it full P and so far the P/limited riggers are holding there own. Actually winning. Your Whip as a P/limited will qualify but the riggers will prevail. Going to a full P you might do better. I would start with something inexpensive and you can add power later for a reasonable price. My P/ltd's use a https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...?prod=leo-3660 and https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...=ose-R-150C-v2. $110 for power, reliable and competitive. I think you have my number so give me a call anytime.
