I run a 3/16th flex in the stock stainless tube on my Genesis and it runs well with standard proboat marine grease. 91mph on 6S.

Nice...Thanks for the replys so far..!!
What ever lube you use, it should be replaced at least after each day you run. Water will get into the stuffing tube, emulsifying the lube with the water. Corrosion will likely follow.
I have used 70W synthetic automotive gear oil (containing an EP additive) for almost two decades on my boats, set SAW records with it and zero rust. That said, almost anything will work as long as it stays on the cable.

EP additive, does that stand for “extra proctective”?
Wanna try; two decades of rockin the FE world... me want some!!
"Look good doin' it"

EP = Extreme Pressure additive. Because of the low velocity of the sliding surfaces (cable/stuffing tube) in FE drives, an EP additive can reduce both friction and wear. You can either add it to a gear oil (see 1st pic) or like I do get an oil which already has it in its formulation (second pic).

Fluid, are you running just straight gear oil, or do you mix it with a grease?
