Finally got a Sniper and am ready to start mounting parts. This is my first mono and I'm not sure how high the shaft centerline should be located above the keel. This will be a 8-10S T-mono local club and maybe regional race boat.
Thanks!
Mike

Hey Mike,
In this case, I do a flooded stuffing assembly and a strut rather than a stinger.
I’d allow for 1/4 to 3/4” height adjustment, to account for different prop size and/or water conditions.
Let us know if you need some explanation or photos.

Wow that much adjustment? A little late for that setup I have a stinger already...maybe I'll return it. I have seen the flood tube and strut setup and understand how it works.
But please provide further explanation on how height is adjusted for water conditions and any photos. I searched here quite a bit and most photos don't show this in detail and there is little discussion on the subject.
I think this much adjustment is the max and if you don’t have experience with a particular hull, this allows for a wide range of props and finding out how loose/wet you feel most comfortable driving. Some boats like the transom deeper than others.
I have poked fun at Jim V when he would bring out a boat with a stinger and he couldn’t go full throttle due to blow over risk.
Stingers are sexier... but only while on the shelf. I’d much rather have the ability to raise the prop without remounting a stinger, especially at a race.

Not too long ago someone made a comment about a percentage measurement, from the bottom of the keel to the center of the drive shaft, for a starting position, to drill the shaft hole in the transom.
I can not find it on the forum, and I forget who made the comment.

I was hoping someone else remembered that comment, and could repost it here.
It also had something to do with percentage of prop blade below the keel.

lmao
It is done. I had to try the TFL adjustable stinger so machined a jackplate to allow adjustment with the flood tube. It spaces out the stinger just enough for captive nuts in channels behind.
Wow! Turned out great! Can't wait to see it streaking across the lake.
Slick looking build. Love that adjustable stinger. What size motor and kV did you end up with?

That jack-plate is a work of art.

Its a 5650 1000KV I picked up here. Gonna try an X450.
Fairly simple really. I had it machined from my sketch by Jeremy Moore.
Nice piece for $45 had to try one: https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...rod=tfl-503b90
Will try a regional race someday!
Very nice!

This boat is running great! Surprised it does 73mph for a full charge without heat issues on the little TP5650. It likes the X455 best, and drive trim is mixed with throttle to trim down slightly at top speed.
That's just awesome. Nice job.
Sick looking boat. Love what you did with the stinger.

Thanks!! Love this boat so happy to have one.
