Default JAE 33FE Electric Outrigger Help

I am putting together a zippkits JAE 33FE Electric Outrigger and am needing recommendations for motor, esc, batteries & prop. I know nothing about electric stuff lol, i'm a nitro guy. I'm not looking to run p-limited rules, I want something hot and fast. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Depends on if you want to run 4s or 6s

a hot 4s set up would be something like a 40mm dia x 2400 kv motor / 220 amp esc / abc H7 prop / 6000 mah -4s lipo. this rigger can take a 6s power set up which will be faster than the 4s set up.

Tp 4050 2100kv motor, Castle xlx ESC converted to water cooling, 4s 5000mah turnigy panther lipo, and an abc 2015-17-45 prop will get around 70mph

It could be fun to see it as a twin setup, (would not recommend it), with a pair of small in- / outrunners.

And then 2xcheap 120 esc and one 4s/6000/60c+ lipo...

The props would probably have to be something very small. In the 30 mm range.

I didn't realize it would handle a 6s. I would rather go with that. Any suggestions for that.

Go down in kv to around 1500 and choose a 6s lipo that will fit.

Mine runs great with a TP 4060 1650 kv motor and a ABC H7 prop on 6s. I wouldn't go back to 4s on this boat, it's right at home on 6s.

Keep in mind going to 6S does not mean you need to put a huge motor in the boat. A 1400-1600kv 36 or 40mm by 74mm will work well and allow you to use a controller like the OSE raider150 (Flycolor150) as amps go down as voltage goes up. I recently bought a Turnigy 36X74 1600 and it performs better than I expected on a 32" tunnel with a Fly150 on 6S. Less than $100 motor and ESC together. A little less hp makes setup and handling easier.

You may also see with the higher voltage/lower amp of the 6S set up that the mah requirement might go down. My 10S rigger was ballistic and got it done easily on 5000mah total yet the 4S rigger I'm setting up for a friend came up short at 5000 of total needed run time.

I run a Het 40mm x 2250 kv motor in my jae 33 on 4s with a 6000 mah pack, after 1 mill lap and 5 race laps the remaining capacity is at around 50% . taking into account the Het Typhoon motor is very efficient.

50%??? What prop and ESC? I tried both a Castle 1515 and now a TP 3650 at 4S and 5000mah was good for 1 mill lap and about 5 "race" laps then pack was just under 20%.

prop is a slightly back cut and tip cupped H7, 180 Turnigy v3 esc. hrb 6000 - 4s. esc and pack only slightly warm if that. i did start off with a castle 1414 -2400 kv motor but this just drained battery power plus made battery pack too warm as well as a t.p. 3650- 2310 kv motor same issues until i tried the Het..

Thanks Jim, yes I did have trouble finding a suitable sized cooling can o rings for this motor as there no the exact 40mm diameter same as there 36 mm can is not really 36mm in diameter. RC Boat Bitz have the suitable sizes I found.

I built one the end of last summer running TP 4060 1650kv on a single 6S 4500 mah limited testing it was a lot of fun to drive. I did lower the battery tray and raised the lid so the lipo would fit.

Jim, the normal 36 or 40 mm cooling can sizes are fine for both sized motors its just the o-ring size you need to get right.

    Ezhitz,
I can?t view the thumbnails for some reason. I have this exact motor and a 200 amp ZTW seal esc I made my own rigger and I can?t get it to handle so I would love to see your set up and videos of it running if you have any.
What speed are you achieving ?

Hey Raydee, I have that same motor It?s such a heavy big and powerful motor I thought the 33 might not be big enough so I built my own 36 inch rigger with bigger more buoyant sponsons much like the European p6 6s riggers but I can?t get it to handle. I am looking ahead and may have to buy either a ML boat works RSX 380 or the JRE 33 or zipkits 33. Do you have video and or photos I can view somewhere and also what speed are you achieving ?
    Regards James

Since starting this post I built a 33 Fe as well I am running a 4060 1650 kv tp I have tried H7 it?s too slow probably my motors kv. The fastest speed was 1819 abc but only 79 mph 78 with 1817 having said that mine is quite heavy I am running a 200 amp Ztw esc it?s heavy the motor is heavy and my 5000mah 100 c Yowoo graphene 6s lipo is also heavy.
I would love to know your exact set up and settings.

We have a few locals who run a Q / limited class with a 4074 motor limit and a bunch of JAE 3's. With a 1750kv Lepoard and 5000ma I run a 1817/3 ABC cut down to basically a 1717 and run 6 laps in heats at 65-67mph. Doesn't sound too fast but I can pin the throttle and never lift in traffic. (till I hit a bouy) Good fun racing and a $50 Flycolor esc. I am sure with a flat out prop min 70's possible

I'm running a Flycolor 150a ESC. With a extra cap pack I made. CNHL 5200or 6200 90c lipo with 8mm connectors for everything. H7 prop from Chris at Dasabota. I also have been getting help from Joe at zippkits. That 4060 is heavy. I'm running. 03 down on the turn fin.
