Next is carbon fiber on the bottom. Here's what I did for clean, square corners.

After measuring the flat bottom area to cover, I add a 1/4" to wrap up the sides of the basswood strips. Plus 3/4" for taping the edges so they wouldn't unravel. That's per side. So simply add 2" to the length and width.

Then I taped the carbon fiber, measuring to the outside of the tape.

Then I cut thru the middle of the tape. The carbon fiber on the roll doesn't unravel either that way.

And cut the corners out 1/4" past the tape...

Now I brush epoxy up to where the corners start to curl up. No farther for now...

I found some scrap 1/4" thick teflon strips at work. And filed the radius I wanted on the corners.

I put a bead of epoxy on the teflon...

And press the teflon strip in the corner. Then I use whatever pieces of scrap wood it takes to wedge it in place...

After the epoxy sets, simply pop the teflon strip out with a small screwdriver. It comes out perfectly clean.

    This leaves a beautiful corner...

Move the teflon over and repeat, and do this to both sides.

Here's a shorter one for the ends...

Again apply epoxy and wedge it in place...

After forming all the corners, I brushed epoxy up the sides to the tape. The tape stays on the whole time.

The last thing is to trim the carbon fiber flush to the basswood strips with an exacto knife...

Here's the result after trimming and a second coat of epoxy...

    your build is fantastic.

i've yet to build a O.R., i've read about them and seen them at my local pond areas, and they scream.
is it really hard to set up the outriggers as i've read?
what colors have you been pondering about?
CF is so fun to lay up or down.

    Thank you.

Yeah, that's why I'm building this, I love how they run.

As far as setup, I don't know. This is my first rigger.

Not sure on color yet. Maybe white and red...

That's good for my ego to hear, but to me it's about each one's gift. Do the best you can with yours, grow it and enjoy the results of your own effort. We are all learning from each other.

On the 310 rigger, I found that the cowl was difficult to shape even with a long 2’ sand plate.

Is your cowl laid up in glass mat or cloth?

Back bay is done except for trimming after it cures. Second coat of epoxy is on and brushed up the sides to the tape.

Front bay left to do yet. Time consuming, but I like the results...

Some more progress and stuff coming together. Here's my quick change motor mount on the flattest part of my counter. Epoxying it all together.

Second pic shows the stack of brass tubing for holding stuffing tube mount alignment...

Final dry fit with tape marking alignment for a clean shot at placing the assembly.

I'm placing it with epoxy applied only to the components that stay in the boat...

i noticed the edges of your CF are not CA'd. on my buggy chassis and A-frames it's suggested to to super glue all carbon fiber edges so they won't fray or separate
Your Motor Install is Super Duper Clean
i bet your at the point of "Dang i'm half way there"
this is where i get kind of sad in my builds no matter if it's my trains, or just something for the house, it's though the journey is almost over, but wait i'll build something else, HA!
You do a very methodical job. This Rig should Fly.

Thanks Stillwet... It got to be a bit too much building the motor mount, but I like be able to oil my motors. I'm pretty happy with it in the end.

I'm not sure what you mean about using CA on the CF edges so it doesn't fray. Before applying it, or after? That's what the tape was doing before applying the CF. If you mean afterwards, it's all epoxied in now.

    Asking to learn...
