Wow thats looks fubar! Have you had any luck fixing it?
Ken
I have made some progress this last couple of days!! I roughed up the inside of the hole with a sanding drum, cleaned it with soap and water, then used a wax&grease remover to remove any oils. I used a shaped piece of pink foam, coated in waterproof epoxy, I also coated the inside of the damaged area in epoxy then inserted the foam. Then I took some 3 ounce hi power rocketry grade "glass" cloth and inserted it between the abs and the foam working epoxy in to the "glass"with a stiff brush. let cure for 24hrs, sanded smooth , and using automotive glazing putty to fill in any imperfections( blue stuff in pic). the repair is very solid probably the strongest part of the boat:D now i am sanding to remove most of the paint as it was badly damaged in the crash. hoped to get it painted by this coming weekend.
ps here is some pics of a "small" rocket my friend Jason(pictured) and I are working on,this rocket will be fully finished in carbon fiber when done.(this is were i get my glass cloth from) the engine casing in the next pic is 29" long 54mm dia. the rocket is 7 ft 6 inches tall 6" dia. :D just thought I would explain the hi power rocketry comment in the above post:D
almost complete! just waiting for my lettering, and some few minor touch ups, and it will be on the water this weekend!:D
Wow, great repair job Jeepers!!!!! The rocket is pretty cool too.:D
