    Default 1/8 Scale Turn Fins.

Just a quick question on 1/8 scale turn fins for you guys over there in the States.
Are there rules governing the style of fin on a 1/8 scaly hydro?
I mean, as in a straight canted fin or a hooked fin.
If there are no rules, what tends to be the preferred style?
    Cheers.
    Paul.

There are at least two sanctioning race bodies that I am aware of and then there are local club rules as well. I can tell you here is the rule book for Namba racing:
http://namba.com/content/library/rul...a_rulebook.pdf See section 21 and 28(electric specific rules) I have seen them both ways, slightly hooked in and also just straight. I have not raced the 1/8 scales yet, so others may have more knowledge on this. I do have one 1/8 scale and am building my second as we speak. There is a the National Boat Race (Namba) happening in Dallas in one month and they are runing 1/8 scale in a spec. class.

I just looks at the rule book for IMPBA FE - 1/8 scale
NO mention of rule for turn fin.

The best turn fins for 1/8th scale (and many others) are from Dick Tyndall but unfortunately due to said popularity he has quite a back log of orders.

    Sorry guys.
I didn't notice the last few posts until just now.
Thanks for the information guys. It is much appreciated.

In the interest of scale, I went with an Accu-Tech straight fin with a home made angled bracket.

Mojo Racing Products has new large fins for 8th scale hydros. I would recommend the 0.056" model for FE hydros

Thanks for the tip, just ordered the 1/8 scale turn fin and bracket from them for my upcoming 8255 build. I was having a hard time finding any turn fins in stock anywhere.
