    rx problem

Not sure where I should have put this thread,
But anyways, inadvertently cut my antenna in half on my receiver (spectrum sr410) by mistake (silly, stupid me) Still works.
What to do?? just use it as is (don't even reach the antenna tube any more) and see what distance I get? or is it possible to replace? idn

    Just splice it back together
    ..you need the full length
..they are tuned for that length...shorter will lose range....

can I just do solder together? or is that going to mess things up altogether?

No...you should be able to solder back together....you need the length as it was from the factory.....

So, just solder the two ends together (shrink wrap maybe, would it be necessary) and be good to go? sounds good to me. Cannot loose anything by trying. just curious if any has done it before and what the outcome was.

I know the old Spektrum rx’s had a detachable antenna. Does the 410 have that? I can look at my 410 when I get home but that’s hours away

John, The Spektrum antennas are coax. Some of them are easy to replace. I have seen some soldered to the board, sorry don't remember what model.
I see replacements for the SR3100 but not the 410. Horizon can help.

Thanks Doug and sirslash, will get into contact with "specktrum" in the meantime will wait for

"srislash" to see what he has to say.

                thanks,
hope I can do something about this without spending $$ for another when this one works (just short on antenna length)

So I found said 410 this morning. It is in my Revo all waterproofed up so I couldn’t see if the antenna had the clip on it it inside. I did have a new style 3100 on the bench and it does have the ‘clip on’ antenna. I will check that 410 today.
If it has the clip on antenna they can found easlily and cheaply on eBay.

Yup...as said by Doug and Srislash..... Was not aware that they are a coax style.... I don't use spectrum on my expensive builds due to some issues....but i do have 2...and both are not plug ins...they're solder on..... Hope all works out...

Ok I dug into my 410 a little. It is soldered. It is an 8” antenna. I don’t see it as coax but I haven’t taken a magnifying glass to it

Just a suggestion, see if you can send it in for service.

                          Good idea.
I was going to attempt to repair one for a friend but couldn't see well enough. The connection points are tiny and very close together.

Yea, mine is soldered to the board. Tried to strip one end to see if it is coaxial or not, but sounds like my eyes are as bad as everyone else's. Am going to find out about getting service on it (but I really doubt it) I expect a robot solders these little buggers together.
