    Transom piece.
    SDC10631.jpg
shiny as i could get. 100 grit - 2000 grit, then buffed.
Alum. flashing does not polish very well, i should of left it brushed, the clear spray takes most of the deep glow away. but it needs to be protected some how.

Thank you srilash, i appreciate that very much, it's to people like yourself here at OSE that made a lot of this happen, all these fun projects come into play from reading and studying right here. Once again, Thanx for taking your time to mention it.

i'm really not the type of person to log or post much of anything i do, i just like building, whether my job or play, but this has been rather fun.

I find I really appreciate the different builds, the out of the norm ones. Sometimes a different take on things enlightens.
I really like the luxury yacht build. One day I’ll do one when something strikes me. I want under water lighting!! Lol

Thanks for the kind words, we are on ‘the same page’.

    smallest LED's i could find.

    they do make them smaller,
This was a Quote from a search
"The smallest standardized LED size is 0201: that is 2mil x 1mil x 1mil, where a mil is 0.001in. For comparison, an average grain of salt is 3mil on a side, giving it 4.5x the volume of an 0201 LED. I can consistently solder 0603 packages using a microscope and a temperature controlled iron."

    Now That Is Small.

So I'm trying to find a way to simulate deck planking like in this photo. I was able to find a roll of wood laminate sticker paper (obviously fake wood), as you can see in the second photo. But I'm not sure it would be pretty as the 1:1 pattern is kinda coarse for this model. Anyone have any suggestions? I wonder how the builder of the model pictured did it, but unfortunately it's from an old thread and he didn't respond there.

    Hello beetleman.
just make sure you go bubbless
my mahogany is wider than the boat showing and i need to do a matte finish(it's too shiny)
his wood work is way better.
I would like to give thanks to Kevinmham @ RC Universe for the inspiration for seeking this model out and to emulate as close as possible to what he did with his.
I'm trying and i believe i'm close, and also doing it a bit different.
so more pics on they're way.
ps. i've been painting and scratch building some more lil' detail parts made from what ever is around the house, i have some LED's from my train sets and slot car track set ups i just need some green ones and maybe even smaller style. i need to find an appropriate bow housing to accompany the port and starboard sides. the stern and mid deck and spot lights i already have my housings figured out, generally nice looking pens and they're pieces, make rather unusual and Rad looking fixtures.

i want to take more pictures but it's all too raw, i don't mind taken the time to do it, it's just like a tile job before grout, it's almost there but the lighting is going to take some time, as far as under water lighting goes i'll just tow a flashlight behind

the lower deck has a gas grill so it had to have a supply, and it has a hose, but not until it's glued in place.
    SDC10730.jpg

    SDC10715.jpg
    A 1/32 scale figure.
an aluminum pull tab lid from a peanut container.
    Red paper clip.
a cap from some left over hardware from a remodel job. (i collect bits and pieces) for scratch building.
    a valve stem core.
train wheels from my N gauge train boxcar parts.
whats nice you can make this any size just like my Milwaukee 1:1 hand truck.
there's quite a bit more to come. i'm gearing up for my Tamiya Grand Hauler to tow this boat around and my lunch.

are you talking about the mahogany decking? i had completed the upper and lower deck already, and yes i wish the lines were more apparent but it still looks good, (if that is what you meant) is a good tip. i wanted to do a different wood color in between but it would had been more time when i was into it and had still a lot of lil' details left, i keep a ledger and log every thing that comes to mind and or read and see, ideas are every where. i'm posting the decks tomorrow or Friday and then finish the electrics and hardware. i still need to use rubbing compound & wax the boat to get it to shine more. Thanx again for the Sharpie idea, hopefully i'll get to experiment with it on another project.
    i do use Sharpies often.

    Thank you Alpha Spirit.
Are you just starting your build? that boat is very nice indeed, i wanted to do a Dumas kit again but stumbled onto the 800's.
are you doing a build log here for your Portofino?
i would like to follow your build if you do.
i just started lighting last night, not many but still a chore.
