    Default TP motor thrust bearing?

Just got a 4050 motor today and noticed that a normal 5mm thrust bearing won't work as the shaft is like 10mm about 3mm past the can before its cut down to 5mm. What solution are you guys using to be able to use a 5mm thrust bearing?

I am wondering with the pinned rear end bell if I should just skip the thrust bearing all together?

Look for a bigger thrust bearing. They are used in lots of things. Google is your friend. BTW the shaft should be 8mm through the motor. Makes for a nice solid motor.

For some reason when I tried a 8mm thrust bearing on the shaft it did not fit. After measuring the bearing it was actually 6mm.

On my twin cat, the motor mount plate is 1/8" thick.
I put a 11/32" hole to make sure it clears the shaft.
Now the 5mm thrust bearing pushes on the motor plate, and all is good.

You can also add a plate to the face of the motor mount in a pinch. I've done that a few times. I don't always use a thrust bearing. Depends on how much weight that tail bearing has to support. Judgment call. Larry's boat? Maybe should put two bearings on each side. That thing is a violent angry monster.

I may just skip the bearing all together. It's going in a 33" Jae rigger.

It is not that bad Terry, It only draws about 90 AMP's a side in Oval setup.
I need to point my struts down a touch.
My driving needs to be smother also.

That thing is a handful Larry. I don't know if anybody is smooth enough to drive it.

Larry, at the NATS you blazed a path through the thickest lily pads I've ever seen like they were butter. The boat's amazing sir. Nice job.

    Larry

SMOOTHER?????????? meaning your smooth already but would like to be smooth----er?

I did laugh out loud when I saw this.

That thing is like a top fuel dragster. Point it at the finish line BEFORE you hit the throttle.

I was calling for Larry when he cut a "wide straight groove" through those lily pads at the start of the heat . He didn't have it pointed at the finish line, and hit the throttle anyway. Then he was on the back side of the course before I could even say GO!

Yes , that thing is stoopid fast.
