    Default Leopard 4082 2000 KV on 4S on 30'' tunnel hull ?

Hi all im considering further experimentation with my 30'' Dunlap W.O.F tunnel hull which has a Swordfish 220 amp + esc and 1p 4S 5000 mah 50c lipo. I have several ?'s before i proceed #1 I have a Leopard 4082 2000 Kv 3D motor i would like to use. Would the O.S Max .21 lower unit be able to handle this motor? IS a 5000 mah 50c lipo enough battery for this set up ? What would be min and max diameter props that i could use on this set up ? Regards Andris Golts.

The OS shaft will hold up with the 40X82 as long as you don't go too big with props. I would stay under 45mm and if you pitch up even less diameter. A m445 or m545 cut down to 43-44-mm will work well and or try an X642. ABC 1714-15-16's will perform well. Every hull and balance seem to like certain prop profiles so you need to try all you can get your hands on. Battery should be fine just keep an eye on time and check cell voltages religiously after a run.

The 40X82 on that size hull is a lot more power than you need. With a K&B lower I would stay in the 36-40mm and maybe 70mm length range. A 1512 or 1515 Castle 2000-2400kv will work very well and a finned case doesn't need a water jacket saving weight. Castles are inexpensive and very reliable. Actually I have run the 1515 1y Castle 2200 and a Leopard 40X82 2200 on the same Shaman hull and I prefer the Castle.

I have a K&B lower on a 24" Dumas HS Sprint. The K&B I have is very limited in prop size X442 is the largest mm, X642 will not clear the water pick up. Best prop I found for mine is a P-215.
On my VS-1 29.5" hull I run a Leo 40x74 can, on 4s, with that lg motor to get CoG close, battery had to go all way as far forward as possible, still about .5" rear bias. That's a lot of wgt hanging off the tail end.

    Hi HTV,
I also am running the castle 1515/1y 2200kv with a cut down M545 on an PX335 tunnel. What esc are you running? I had some issues this summer with my HW 180V3 esc shutting down on me and coming back quite warm. Ran on 4s and also limited 5S.

    Thanks!

    Musky,
The last 2 T-180's I purchased have that problem and I will not buy another! I have tried elimination of BEC and LVC with no fix. Sounds like they just have some bad ones and they are aware but no fix and no replacement. Shame on me for buying 2.
    Soap box away.
My best "P" solution for a 1515 is an MGM 28026. Not cheap and maybe a SF200X might work. Haven't tried one yet. Another solution if your not racing "P" class rules is try a RAIDER/Flycolor 150 on 6S with a 1300-1600 KV 4074 motor. A TP or Leopard are under $100 and with ESC and Battery cheaper than the MGM. I have a 36" Vision with a 1320kv 4020 Scorpion outrunner and a Flycolor 150 on 6S that runs 55mph with an M545. Going up in voltage to 6S reduces your amp draw 1/3rd so a 150amp and not too large watt motor will work well.
