Can you give me some prop suggestions for my 6s tfl Pursuit. Right now I have a gratinar k45 prop which is 45 mm and I'm getting 47 miles an hour with a hobbywing Seaking 180 V3 and a castle 1717 1650kv motor from an X Maxx. The batteries are lectron pro 5000 3s 50c and I know they're holding me back right now because they're the only thing getting warm. I tried a 42mm CNC 2 blade prop and the speed dropped by five miles an hour. I'm ready to start sharpening and balancing my own props but I'm not sure what probably should start with and money is tight. Obviously I plan on improving the batteries for a higher C rating and maybe going up to a 6,000 or 7,000 milliamp hour

if you do have a real Castle 1717 1650kv motor that would be out of the XO-1 car and those are a beast!
I run one in a 39.5" mono on 6s running 10,000mAh (heavy setup) and that thing is a ROCKET!
I think I am running a 52mm prop??
this small of a boat running that motor spinning a 47mm or even a 50mm prop would be crazy and not have power issues.. LOL
your packs should be just fine, but remember try not to run them below 3.2v under load and keep around 15-20% min left in the packs after a run.
shocked you are only seeing 47mph with a 45mm prop, could be it's not metal and flexing.
lots of racers on these pages who are here to help you along bro.NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8sComment

Thank you for the responses everyone! The motor I have I'm 95% sure came out of an X Maxx. I don't remember the dimensions but when I was measuring it to look for water cooling cans I thought it was about the same as the 1717, but I could be wrong. Regardless of the motor size it's not working hard at all because even after I run it for 5 minutes straight the motor still comes back cold as well as the ESC. I will definitely look at the October m447 as recommended. Anybody else have any ideas on other props? I'd really like to see 70 miles an hour on 6s so I can stick with the speed control. I'm not racing, there's no one around here that does boats. Just go on for high-speed passes and enjoying the thrillComment

It looks like the m447 only has a pitch of 1.4. When I be wanting something closer to 1.7 or 1.9 bitch for just high-speed passes?Comment

Great choice
Diameter: 1.85"(47mm) Total Pitch: 1.4x1.85=2.590" Shaft Size: 3/16" This propeller is sharpened & balanced to increase performance over a raw or poorly prepared propeller. Click here for more help in deciding which prop is best. www.offshoreelectrics.com/propeller-chart.php Because of the time & labor required to balance these, they are often out of stock. We suggest clicking the "add watch" button, when the item comes back instock you will receive an email.

keep in mind running 5mins will warm up your batteries as you are taking them to empty
yours temps on the motor and esc are good because the props you were using are pretty small for this motor and it's drawing low amps
many many props choices and this is all part of the fun of FE boats...NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8sComment

I'm thinking m645 or x645. I have tons of experience with planes and cars and helis so I am somewhat familiar with the diameter/pitch effect on thrust and speed. The graupner 45mm has tons of thrust out of the hole, so if I am just looking for more speed I am thinking it would be best to stick with the same diameter and add pitch. More diameter will reduce slip but the amps go up fast from what I can tell. Am I thinking properly? Also what are the advantages or disadvantages of the M prop versus the X? Definitely going with the prepped props from offshore electric, I wish I had the funds to buy a whole bunch and test but realistically I'm looking at 1 or 2 props a month in my budget.Comment

but won't see the 70mph you were asking for..
I also have a M645 (de-tonged) prop. little less bite on the leading edge that helps the props spin up using less amps
my prop of choice in P-Limited Sport Hydro.. mid-upper 50's on 4s with a AQ2030 motor
will be interesting seeing how that traxxas motor responds with prop changes.NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8sComment

Also Chris AKA dasboata here at OSE could help you out very quickly in prop selection..

Here she is before the first run where it caught some chop and slammed to a stop, ripping out the stock battery, motor and servo mount. Second pic is with all new cnc plasma cut (love my job) mounts for everything glassed in.Comment

What timing are you running on the hk motor. I have the same motor but can't find out if it is a wye or delta.
ThanksComment
