TFL Pursui hits 70.4mph with Octura prop

With this run I officially put anther one of my boats into the 70mph club (with an Octura prop). Not too bad for a $45.00 motor from Hobby King. I really need a good rain to wash the trash out of the lake because I hit a piece of a limb on my first pass and almost made the rudder breakaway from the mount. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bHW2gbL2VI

I was lucky enough to find the buyer of my old pursuit that I built about 6 years ago.
Boat need some work but still has all my custom setup inside. Needs a little body work but that’s no problem.
I was able to get it to 61mph on 4s2p back then running a castle 1515 2200kv swinging a m645 prop. Still have one of those motors so I think I’ll start there.
Here’s it running back then. Think this was about 50-55 mph run on small pond.

Btw Mad, that thing is running great. Can’t believe that hk motor is holding up. They must be a lot better than they used to be.
I can remember blowing those things up on first runs back about 6 years ago.
Once I get mine back in the water I may try a 5s run to see what it can do. The math says 68mph or so.

Very cool, I didn't know Dynamite has a version of the 1515. Good to know as Castle is only making a sensored version of it now. Its always been one of my favorite 4s batts. Its a torque monster.

you don,t need to use the sensored plug on the castle motors if you don,t have a sensored esc. the Dynamite motors are too expensive for what they are.

I really liked the Pursuit and I really miss mine. I decided to do some hull reinforcement and put a new motor and esc on mine and went out to test it but I forgot to put any floatation inside. I flipped it in the middle of the pond and I couldn't reach it with a fishing rod. I thought about swimming for it but this isn't the pond in my backyard and there were bigger alligators in there. So all I could do was watch it go down. The nose did stay up for a bit and if there would have been some wind it might have pushed it closer to shore but it was so calm that day. It finally sank.. .bye bye. Now, seeing yours brings memories and it's making me want to get another. lol. .maybe someone wants to get rid of one? Nice run on your Pursuit Mark. I'm pretty sure you can get more speed out of her as she seems to run smoothly and still controllable.

Mad, I was checking those out the other day but didn't know they were the Castle. Pretty pricey but if they are the same as the castles they last for a long time. I've seen a couple new old stock of the 1515 pretty cheap but with the ribs they are a pain for cooling. May try the Dynamite on next build or when this one gives up. Hell, Im not positive its still good until I get it fired up anyway.

Bp, that a bummer man. Ive lost a couple over the years but nothing of that great of importance. Get another one!

Do you guys know what size the hardware screws are in the v3 geico? Like the hold down tray and motor mounts. Not where I can look at my other one and want to pick some up. I believe they are 3mm x .5

Brian, I hate to hear about you loosing yours. That's a tough one to swallow I know. I've got a hunch I can eek another mph or two out of mine...Hopefully, I'll do my best trying anyways.

Thanks Dan! I normally like it at or near 30% for showing out with it...Lol! But 28% is a little more mph. Depending on the water conditions obviously though.

Man, that's crazy to me. So, your boat is around 30% with two batteries that far under the deck? Seems like it would be a snow plow!

Here's mine at 30% or a little less...

He said 28% you would need to move your lipos back probably touching your receiver or even a little farther. I want to say last time I ran mine I was at 29% and it ran really well. It all depends on your setup though really
