    Default Vintage Dumas miss Thriftway Too. Hydro

    Any one have any info on this old Dumas hydro kit....was an inboard nitro, 36" wood kit..... Thanks.

    I know its an old hydro and simular to the Dumas Unlimited Hydro. shovel nose hydro.

    Thetime it came out it was Nitro. If you want to race stay away from it. Poor quality wood and not designed for today's FE gear.

    This one has been converted to FE....has been carbon fibre reinforced... 3/16 drive......set up for brushless....but never finished.....

    Well...it is a pretty cool old girl....not planning on racing it...but would be nice to make it brushless.... and see how she does....

    She's a boat that I really like too. I intend to build an 1/8 scale model of it too one day.
    I'm interested in seeing how yours turns out.

    Well...it's missin the top cover...which i believewas vacuum formed plastic....so i will have to fabricate on from wood....

    On the following link, there are some plans for the Miss Thriftaway Too, at the bottom of the page. They might help you get the shape & proportions right for the cowling. Also some construction notes from the original Dumas kit.
    There's also a few other boat plans on the page that might be of interest to you down the track a bit.

    Also...looks as though Dumas made two versions of the Thriftway Too....24" and a 36"

    Hi all i believe the 36'' version went by the name of Miss Unlimited i built one in the late 1980's set up with a Picco P-45 i still have the hull ? Regards Andris Golts.

    Ah yes....That would account for the differences in the hulls...Could ypu get a pic of your hull..? Thanks.
