    Default Whats a very reliable ESC

    Looking at 2x ESC's whats a reliable 8S 200A plus system with or without internal bec water proof would be good too ?
    Looking to do high speed runs around 80 90 mph.
    I am sure i have left something out boat is a Zonda

    By the way, those swordfish esc's are fairly large the new 220 is smaller https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...d=hef-HBX1220L but up to 6s

    Toying with the idea of converting and waterproofing a XLX i love em, and can handle up to 400A with data login and the right price too, has any one successfully dun this mod.?

    The esc only goes up to 6s. OP was asking about 8s.

    Yes I’ve done several XL2 and XLX, make sure you replace the caps on the board with Rubycon ZL 50v 680uf. I put 4 caps on the power side of the esc.

    I know, Just a suggestion in case he changed his mind and went 6s, could save a bit of money and space going 6s.... just putting it out there. What motors are you running?

    Have you got any picks or link of how you did the water cooling on it ?
    I even add extra 5 caps 50v 2200 uf to it and data log says 1.6 ripple with 6S
    How are thay holding up in the boat ?

    I ran that boat quite a bit and didn’t have any problem with it. Couldn’t tell you how many runs but I did put that esc through more abuse than it’s rated for and it didn’t get hot. I was running 4s, high kv and a VERY aggressive prop. 4s and high kv is very hard on things too

    And is that with just the two top cooling tubes on it ?

    It has some on the bottom too.

    I’ve burned up mgm too. I like the mgm, they are super smooth and look really nice. However, I don’t have deep pockets and when one burns up and you have to ship to Germany to be told sorry no warranty.....lol. No thanks. The new swordfish escs look really nice and they seemed to have listened to us and fixed issues with it. I’ve only tried the 220 so far.
