For all of you guys (and gals) that have the ponds freeze over...
Do you have RC ice racing vehicles/boat/whatever? I'd love to see some video if someone could point me in the right direction.
I'm especially interested in the sailing type.
LMK!

I found this website: http://www.iceboat.org/RCBoats/rciceboats.html
However, I was hoping someone had a canard FE ice racer they'd like to share!

Sorry no video. I used to run them but since I moved from Alaska to Texas, no more ice so they're gone. I built light weight canard-style "boats" and ran them on both ice runners, and wheels in Summer parking lots. Standard cat-rigged with mylar sails, they really flew, much faster than the wind. Biggest problem I had was that I built them too light and tacking was sometimes difficult (too little inertia). But the acceleration was awesome!
.
Very cool! I was wondering if anyone saw this thread, LOL.
No pictures?
We have some great parking lots here that would be perfect for this type of thing. Then we can always use some R134 to address the ice or the lack there of. J/K (thinking maybe just some big CO2 tanks)

I dont know if you consider this but if you want you can build your own swamp style boats.
All year runner unfortunately its more of a light barge and not a canard.

Yeah, I've considered that, but I used to do hovercrafts way back when and have had my fun working with push/pull fans for now. I'll have to keep it in mind for the future though

Winters are long and frozen up here in northern Vermont. I ran my 1/10 scale Tamiya Porsche 911 GT3 a few times on ice, good fun.

Very cool! I haven't had the chance to see the video yet.
It's so funny, I was just thinking about this thread yesterday. I was thinking that everyone had ice toys up north, but didn't receive much response.
Thanks for your contribution studioRS.

It was a TON-O-FUN and I'd do it again. Watch the movie when you get a chance. I also have it over on youtube.

Yaa, zero tire wear, don't have to worry about a hot motor either. Looks like someone else had the same idea. Great video too.

No boats here in the ice but we do build tire chains for out TMAX and Revos and they are cool. I tore mine up but simple to make. Sure makes them go good!
