Legg Lake Closed Up ; Now a Crime Scene
South El Monte, Ca. April 1, 2018
Authorities are currently curtailing all model boating activities at this local county facility until the identity of what appears to be a human body that floated up on the course during a model boat race this afternoon can be established. Model boat racer Ernie Farquard was interviewed by local homicide detectives and explained that during what model boaters call a “heat race” something large and tree trunk-like surfaced on the front straightaway, creating confusion among the racers as well as the Contest Director, who was responsible for calling out the locations of any obstacles in the path of the race boats. While this investigation is still in the preliminary stage, some local boaters on scene expressed concern that this may be the remains of a model boater last seen a week ago trying out what could best be described as a horribly overpowered hobby-grade boat and had been cautioned about using common sense advice from those with long term experience which was ignored in favor of information picked up from an un-named model boating forum.
Further details will be forthcoming.
