Default Working on the Holy Grail of R/C Cars

So most everybody here knows I like vintage R/C boats but I also am into the vintage cars. Not sure if you can see the pictures if you are not a member but the link below is for my 1976 Tamiya Porsche 934 58001 restoration project. This is the car that started the R/C car revolution.

I am a year younger than you, so it is from before my time too,. What makes it the holy grail of RC cars, was it the first Tamiya RC car kit?

Yep Tamiya's first RC car. The first few they made were just their static kit body's with a very basic RC chassis.

looks like a an over sized slot car.
do you have it up and running?
i have the 2011 Avante it's a shelf queen now after the Trani melted.
These are the cars as a small boy going to bed dreaming about.
i like the fact that Tamiya brings out old revisions of some of their models.

I got it running with period correct Futaba radio system but have not finished the new body set. I still love Tamiya I got some of the original stuff, re-releases, and new stuff. Most of their stuff is not competition material but very scale and a blast to run.

i was waiting for an insect to crawl in front of your camera
The controller is as cool as the car, totally rad that all the old crystals are hanging tough.
when done, i'd seal them both in glass (Break Glass only in Emergency).
