DF Pirate with a Leopard 4082 motor https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...?prod=ose-187L https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pr...oct-ocfhe5mm18
I've been through the build posts without much help with the flex shaft. I'm assuming 18" shaft will do.

the cable length depends where your motor is located. Correct coupler

Thanks. The motor location is kind of the problem. I'm flying blind here. From what little I can find I want the motor as far aft as practical right? Also how hard is the flex cable to cut? My usual M.O. is to jump in guns ablazin and screw things up then run for help. I'm trying to do this a little smarter this time around lol.
Here man. This is the pirate I did and it ran awesome

Thanks that helps. I at least have some idea where to start.
To cut the flex use a dremel with a cutting disc & put a chamfer on the cut end after cutting to length. the chamfer stops the flex unwinding as it goes into the coupling. You can also solder this end of the flex to stop it unwinding, don't use pliers or cutters to cut the flex as it can ruin the end of the flex.
