Default Motor choice for 6s jae 33

Almost done building and want choices of setup that would yield 70 to 80 with decent run time. Its for having fun with not racing. Please let me know what would work. Esc- motor-prop. Thanks

    ESC - Raider 150
Motor - TP 3650/4Y or TP 4050/4Y or Leopard 4074/1650
    Prop - ABC 1915-17* or H-7
Battery - Minimum 5000 mAh/45C, two 3S/3300 in series would be one option

There are other options of course, but these will meet your goals.

6S is a voltage measurement (22.2 volts nominal), ampage is a different thing entirely, and will depend on Rpm and prop size, spin an X427 at low RPM on 6s and a 30A ESC will be plenty, try spinning an X467 at high RPMs on 6S and you will blow a 400A ESC.

Leopard/Tp 4074 or 4082 in the 1600kv range should get you in the 70's no problem with the right prop.

I have a KEP's P rigger with a 1415 1Y (2400kv) Castle and a Flycolor 150 that works well on 4S. Mid 60's in 6 lap trim. Similar size to the JAE33. Going to Q-6S with a TP 36X75 (3640) 5Y 1570KV would lower the amp draw and pull more prop. I would think 70mph would be attainable. A TP3650 (36X85mm) would have more watts and might stress the 150 esc. Many 40mm motors work but I like the 36mm for that size hydro. Have to try this one.
Interesting idea with a limited size "econo' rigger that runs very respectable speeds.

I have run the ZippKits cut down 1450, H-7, H-10, OCT X642, N940, ABC 1816 & 1817. All ran well but I think our fastest 1/4 mile times were with the 1817 and next go to would be the 1450. Still a few more to try. This is with Castle 1415 1Y 2400kv.

My own FE21 with Castle 1415/1Y runs best with a cupped H-7, it runs 12 second laps with max speeds on the oval in the high 70s on 4S. I haven’t tried low-lift ABC props but would expect them to perform even better.

    BTW my 1415 has a 5mm shaft.

    So, rough calc: TP 3650-7D, 1815-17-45, 2x 6S 3000-3300 parallel, 150-180amp esc. 36K rpm. 78mph@15% slip.

    Should be fun.

You have to work to get 1 6s in this hull.

you need to make the tub abit wider on the jae21/fe to fit a 6s lipo or buy the jae 33 which fits a 6s easy.

You could probably go 6S4000's but the run time won't be fantastic.

Castle's new version of 1415 comes with either 5mm or 1/8".

i feel safer having the 5 mm motor shaft as opposed to a 1/8 inch diameter.

I would too, one of very few motors I have broken over the years was a Castle CM36 that's shift swapped where it stopped down from 5mm to 1/8" just outside the front bearing.

Went with TP 3650/4y 6s Compact Zippy 5000mah and a H7 prop to start. Got to run it today for 5 min and Iam more than happy with the way the hull handles and the performance of this combo. Motor esc battery were only a littlle warm when done. Gotta love a good running and turning rigger.

fluid, that's what i plan to run with my 4082 1600kv. in order to fit those batteries, I had to remove battery tray and mounted heavy duty velcro by epoxying the fuzzy side to the hull sides. the batteries will sit on the hull floor and there is no extra height. just made it.
