Default 2018 Namba Lone Star Nationals - Oct. 20th to Oct. 27th

The 2018 NAMBA Lone Star Nationals will be hosted by the Dallas RC Thunderboats from Oct. 20th to Oct. 27th! We have a great race site at McInnish Park in Carrollton, TX. This Nationals event will follow the previous year's format by offering gas, nitro and electric classes.

Our race site is located approx. 15 miles from Dallas Love Field airport and 13 miles from DFW airport. Six Flags, ATT stadium and downtown Dallas are all within 25 miles, downtown Ft. Worth is approx 35 miles and Winstar Casino is 65 miles. The Texas State Fair will also be open until Oct. 21st and there is a DART train station located 3 miles that will drop you off right at the entrance gates.

Since we are located in a city park, the City will be allowing us to use 2 large parking lots for RV's, but you must be self contained. For those that are not self contained, Sandy Lake RV park is within 1 mile of the park.

Three of the fastest growing classes in District 7 will also be offered as exhibition classes, Sportsman Mono, Gas Outboard Tunnel and LoneStar Enduro. Electric 1/8th Scale Unlimited Hydroplane is also a fast growing class and will be offered following NAMBA rules.

Link to the Rules for the 3 exhibition classes... Exibition Class Rules

Heat racing format for sorting of heats will be done following the format used at our District 7 races.

    Round 1 is preset
Round 2 will be set by how you finished in round 1
Round 3 will be set by how you finished in round 2
Round 4 will be set by how you finished in round 3
Heats will be set by how you placed in the previous round.
Heats will be kept as even as possible.

Hilton Garden Inn Dallas Lewisville will be the host hotel and also the location of the banquet on Sat. Oct. 27th. The room rate will be $99 for a single king or double queen room. This rate will include a full cooked breakfast for up to 3 people per room per day. There is a cash only bar onsite and restaurants within walking distance.

8 days of racing and 11 FE classes?? WOW this really makes me want to go to this event!!!!! WTF really????? this really steams me!!! I went to the FE nats for 8 years in a row and raced lots of boats in 3-4 days, REALLY 8 DAYS!!! 11 CLASSES thats 1 class a day for 5 days and 2 classes for 3 days. WOW THIS IS REALLY FAIR!!!! If I want to race this even I have to take off from work for 10-11 days to run a CRAP schedule. NAMBA is choking FE racing on a national level. And this "COMBINED SUPERNATS FORMULA" proves it. It's just so rediculous. All things equal, I would rather race a club event than go to this, I would race more in 1 day than I would in 6 days at the nats!!! And probably against better competition. This is a disgrace.

1/8th scale electric will be held as an exhibition class. Rules for 1/8th Scale Electric Limited Hydroplane can be found here along with our other exhibition classes. Sorry for any inconviences this may cause.

Nationals are just over 3 months out. Please get your entries in and make sure to reserve a room! Also, don’t forget the rules on G1 and stock motors. There were a few last year that had illegal GZ4/5 motors. We will be checking! And for electric P Limited classes, the rules for specific motors is still in place. Make sure you’re legal.

    P-Limited update:

The Pro Marine RC motor model PMRC3656 is an approved motor for electric P-Limited classes for the Nationals. The motor has been verified with NAMBA to meet the requirements of section 28 D.1.d.iii. The race forms have been updated to reflect this addition.

If you have any questions, please PM or email me.

I've had a request for allowing the Proboat/Dynamite DYNM3831 A3650-2000Kv. This motor also fits into the requirements of section 28 D.1.d.iii and I was able to get it approved by NAMBA as well. The entry form has been updated.

Again, thanks to all that have entered. This has turned into the biggest Nationals in recent years with 513 boats currently entered! Thanks to Tim Martin for his hard work on sponsorships all classes except x-hydro will run.

Kid-R-Boaters we currently have no one entered but it will be left open until Oct. 12th. The only requirement is they have to have NAMBA insurance. If their only entry is for Kid-R-Boaters, we’ll also waive their banquet fee.

    See everyone next month!

Just under 3 weeks! Those that still have not paid by, your entry is subject to removal at any point. Make sure you have your NAMBA numbers on your boat per the rule book.

G1 motors, make sure you’re legal as well as they will be checked. I know there were a couple GZ4 motors found last year.

The earliest to arrive is Thursday morning 8am. There will be a tent behind the drivers stand for you to check in. Please see one of the Dallas club members before parking your trailers.

If you have any questions, please call or email me or John Borden.
Thanks everyone and see you soon!

    One week to go!

Make sure to keep an eye on the weather! It’s supposed to be cool, bring warm clothes.

Your entry forms and dinner tickets will be provided when you check in. Please check these items for accuracy.

The drivers meeting will be at 8:30am and racing at 9am daily.
The Welcome Party and Paddle Boat BBQ (at pond) and the Banquet (at host hotel) will all be at 7pm.

I’ve had a few questions about the NAMBA number on your back, name tags will be provided to satisfy the rule. The tag will be in your entry packet.

There are a couple rules I’d like to point out. We’re all here to have fun but safety should be our number 1 priority.

    1. Every driver must have a pit person at all times, whether in practice or during a contest, who is also a NAMBA member and who is aware of all course conditions and NAMBA regulations. R/C Combat ships do not require a pit person or separate observer.

    2. Only NAMBA members are allowed in the hot pit area. No persons other than those running a boat, those assisting with the running of a boat, or contest officials will be permitted in the pit area.

    3. At NAMBA events, no smoking will be allowed in the drivers stand area or hot pit area. The hot pit area is defined as the area where boats are started and launched.

    4. Consumption of or being under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or illegal drugs is not permitted while operating or assisting in the operation of a model boat, whether it be in practice or during a contest. The same applies to contest officials while a contest is taking place.

Please be safe traveling and lets all have a great time, this only happens once a year!

A NAMBA Nationals is about pleasing the racers, not about what a few might want. I guess if someone is not willing to adapt to change and rants about it, then perhaps they are in the wrong hobby....

Jay maybe you're right, but you gotta admit that 10FE classes in 8 days is a little rediculous? Pescador, they're shouldn't be OFF days at the NATS thats what I'm trying to say.racing 1 boat a day at the nats is a waste of time. All the time, travel, hotel, entrance fee etc.... just not enough racing.

All the classes are spread out throughout the fuel types mike.. not just fe..u just can’t run all the classes for every fuel type it would take 3 weeks... this is first time in a while I have seen t mono make a nats or have enough boats to make a class..all in all it was a great event.. minus the weather.. but it was fun and a new format with heats for most.. thanks to the Dallas rc thunderbolts club and whoever else help out on this years Namba nats.. they are a huge undertaking..
