Kind of odd that the owner of the bag seems to have ran away from it. Had they not "been in control of your bag"?
Haven't seen anything about what the battery was for, but I'll guess it was a laptop. There's a recall out for some Dell models. They've had a few "swelling" incidents. We know what the next step after swelling is.

    Exploding?
Why sure Terry, the story was by a “journalist” so of course it is accurate. The public will read “exploding” and there’ll be one more nail in the LiPo coffin.

    Ugh. Irresponsible reporting once again.

I've heard that LiPo can explode but I've never seen it. I've witnessed about a half dozen (maybe) meltdowns I think. Still haven't seen one explode.

Wonder what will be next. No phones on planes I guess.

The explosion comes when they are confined. If a venting LiPo has no where to vent to it is going to step the excitement up a notch.

I just sent them a nasty gram from my professional fire protectiony email. Wasting my time but at least I'll feel like I tried.
