Default Twin rudder setup on a 41" mono

One mostly sees a right hand mounted single rudder setup on a mono transom. Is the offset purely to aid right turns in competition use or does it offer handling advantages? I believe that an inline rudder has disadvantages affecting handling.

Apart from increased drag does a twin offset rudder setup offer any advantages to make it worthwhile consideration?

mostly twin rudders are designed for Deep - V Off Shore Hulls . theres nothing wrong with having either set up for normal boating use , where it be twin / center or off set , its up to the individual . for normal use i would suggest a center rudder with a long extension bracket so theres good spacing between the trailing edge of prop and the leading edge of rudder, this set up will give the hull good turning in both directions as opposed to the off set rudder where turning is better one direction and not as good the other.
