thanks guys. i have an esc coming along with the cooling system parts to button that up. i bought a cf battery tray I'm going to modify for the esc, since i didn't know where to find them anymore. i also have a set of graphics coming from Wesleys Graphics. hopefully those don't take forever.

I will also be wrapping a lot more of the boat with clear Vinyl before decals.

I got busy cutting down the battery tray to use as esc mount. Glued that in with asi silicone as well as move the radio box to the other side. The motor cooling can fit nicely. Now I. An get the cooling system all rigged up and tested.

If you wanted to, could you use a tail ring on that short motor?

    Working on the hatch

as many of us know, fiberglass can warp, and the hatch really needed some way for holding it down. in the front i used a piece of 1/8 birch ply to slip underneath the front lip, then cut a block of 1/4 to fit inside and fill the gap so the hatch seats on that. then i dyed it black and coated with epoxy before using asi silicone to glue it up in from underneath, then drilled and used thumb screws to hold down the front

    And the rear section

i didn't have room to really make any kind of thumb screw hold down back here, so i cut a couple of carbon tabs, and cut two smaller to go under, creating a small gap where the tabs can slide under the back deck and hold the rear in place. i used asi silicone again for them.

    Yup, takes time!

    My 265 took 3 years, lol... I've done a whip 40 in 3 weeks.

I have fixed some FG cowlsn aminatingting with carbon or carbon/kevlar and while curing I force the warp in other direction with weights and rigging.

Yeah I was never in a hurry to build. I had a vision in my head and just took the time to make that vision a success. Hopefully I’ve built it well and it runs nice

got a whole bunch more stuff. batteries, and program box, plus some other crap. after the battle to solder castle 6.5 on, i finally got to program the esc. what a pain in the dick this 160 is. took me a while to figure out how to plug it in. the instructions are terrible. now i got it all programmed, and now i have to connect it to my receiver. not really sure what I'm supposed to do, because opt the 1 extra wire. dunno if it needs to be plugged in or not.ill upload some photos shortly.

my radio is a tactic ttx300, 3 channel. i wasn't planning on really using the 3rd channel for the added features on the esc. anyone know if i just hook this thing up as usual and leave out the 3rd channel wire?

I wouldn’t worry about the extra “turbo” wire, just set your timing with the box and you’ll be good.

I have the 160 and I don’t use the turbo feature. I do have the single wire plugged in. But I think you can get away without it being plugged in.

thanks for the heads up guys.

i was just adding up all the paypal payments from this build and OMFG! this is stupid. $1500.

i mean, i didn't have to spend that kind of money, but i guess why build something from scratch and put just any ol stuff on it.

thats including having to buy a charger and power supply and everything i need, since i had sold off all my old stuff 3 years ago. but cripes, when i started this build i guess i didn't really think about just how much this was gonna cost me. i really hope it stays together on the water lol

Got a chance to run today finally. After 8 months lol.

Water was a bit choppy, and I was anxious. I tossed it in and hit the throttle. First it nosedived as hydros tend to, then pooped back up and I hit it harder and the boat got up on a plane. I gave it some more and off it went.
I’ve had plenty of fiberglass hydros, but none compare to the sound of a wood kit smacking the chop. Boat is a beast! Everything went a ok. No issues whatsoever. As soon as I can get some vid I will.
I barely hit full throttle I was mostly 3/4. Just feeling the boat out now. Plenty of juice

    A quick shot from today.

Ran again tonight and water just had like a 1” chop. I was about 3/4 throttle most of it and just running laps, with some full throttle passes and it’s damn fast.

Man there’s nothing like a nice wood hydro... I’d never go back to fiberglass
