    Hello,

I bought one...I replaced the EC5 connectors by 5.5mm ones, a 1715-17-45 was used , 6s bolt 2800 (4.2v not 4.35v). speed is 62Mph. Those packs are light but I had them. they were placed at the end of the tray(rear). I hope that with proper weight packs, it will turn better, because it is crazy bad actually.
The rudder blade is very thick and strange at the bottom. Did somebody replace it?

I`d say it turns on a dime-at decent speeds
only did some sharpening at the rudder.

I am running the original rudder on mine. I did sharpen it, but didn't cut it down in any way. Madrcr was the first to find that turning the steering rate down makes this boat turn much better. I myself run the steering rate at about 50%. Seems to be the sweet spot for mine.

    hello,

today, Miss Veles reached 64mph with the 1715-17-45 with 2800 Bolt charged to 4.3V/ cell.
55 mph with S&B kit prop on 4s. 40mph with the small prop
With my new 2x 3s 5000 "75C" packs, I should get over 75mph. This is kind of crazy to sell this boat with this prop, knowing that people could use 6S...

A friend of mine has a geico V3, and I think it is a more allround boat. the Geico can make nice turns and is drifting well, The Miss veles needs speed to turn, or it can roll!
I think the Miss Veles is good for straight speed , but the amp draw is huge, its motor is built to survive at high loads but as not efficient at all, or the hull is dragging. I will spent some time on this boat, but I am very dissapointed actually.
I will do some measurement on the motor to see how it compares to ther motor I have.

    hello,

    some update...
71 mph with the 1715-17-45 , Bolts charged at 4.3V. What is different from the last run?, the rudder blade was changed for a thinner one, 1mm off, same lenght.
I was expecting to see 80 with the original prop, but I got 74.2 with 6s 5000 . the packs were nor sitting at the extrem rear. It will do 80 next week, with cycled packs charged at 4.3V per cell.
    Motor measured Kv is 2040V.

I think Rafael did not participated to the final design of the rear end of the sponsons, or for economical reasons it was designed poorly, but it is a bad design...

Anyway, it looks great, and for straight lines, it moves!

Ok, I'm a little confused....You said you got 71mph with a 1715-17-45...and 74mph with the original stock prop.. In my experience with my Veles running a 1715 or 1716 prop (from Dasboata) I can get 80mph and with the s&b stock prop I got 69mph (only ran this prop one time). 75mph is easily obtained in my boat that is 100% all stock (rudder and all) with any 17xx series abc prop with my weakest packs charged to 4.20v a cell (not HV packs). Also, if you could upload a video of your next weeks run when you "get 80mph" I'd like to see it. Below is a video of my boat that's 100% all stock equipped with a abc prop.

    Hello,

I am happy that you are confused! Yes, my Veles is nearly stock, except the rudder blade and the power connectors, I went to 8mm gold to standardize my packs. I have a mono which should reach 100mph and needs crazy Amps, this is why I have 8mm connectors. By the way, EC5 are good for 90A, and this Dynamite motor pulls more. it make no sense to put high C packs with poor connectors. Why it will reach 80 with the stock prop? because I will use my Bolts in Hv mode. This boat rides on the rear of the sponsons and the Strut flat bottom, this is why the batteries must be at the rear. 5000 mAh packs are not helping for speed, because the motor will not use 200Amps.

    https://youtu.be/OZFCVPvi6EQ

My today's run with the small ABC , oups, it is not a 17XX, but a 1615-17-45, sorry!

For the Vids, I do not have camera goggle, I need to ask my frriends to record!

Ok, I'm not confused anymore and everything is all clear after watching your video and seeing your boat on the edge of blowing over the entire run doing only 71mph (I think that's the speed you say it's going)..... but that boat will never hit 80mph "with the stock prop" and in stock form without blowing over set up like that and I'm sorry to be the first person to tell you that, but that's reality.... BTW they ARE faster batteries than the Turnigy Bolts in "HV mode" out there...When you get your friends to video "your 80mph run" ask them to get the gps in view before and after your run. I'm glad I found this post because it reminded me that I still have this boat.....Happy Boating!

EC5 connectors are rated for "more than 120 Amps" from the Manufacturer. https://www.horizonhobby.com/ec5-bat...2%29-eflaec502

BTW the fastest mono in the world I believe is around 98mph, so your 100mph Mono should make you a world record holder...

I hope you will be wrong, May be, I will not go 80 mph with the stock prop, but going from 74 to 80 is not a lot. I know a 1716 has a little more lift to keep it flat but the stock prop has more than the 1615. Nice you did 69 with a prepped stock prop, but I did 74...
For the batteries, yes, for over 150A.

For the mono, I do not play with a no step hull, but a stepped one. It will not be an official speed record...

    Happy boating!

Below is the full uncut video of my 100% ALL stock run prop and all verified with proof...Where can we find your 74mph run using the stock prop? BTW It looks like your 55mph speed on 4s is a little off the pace as well, I ran 57 mph on 4s...You can find that video the same place you found my other runs if you want to see it, and of course it has the proof with it as well. I'll be looking forward to your video of your updated run next weekend! Remember to have your friend get the gps cleared out on video before the run and lets see it as soon as you pull it from the water.

    Hello,

yes, on 4s , original rudder and 2 x 4s 5100 roaring top packs in parallel.1120 grs of battery,. I wanted to see which runtime I could get I have no 2S packs available.
I am really listening to what you say on the original prop and the 80mph target, I will reduce its diameter by 1mm, to gain a fraction more of pitch and to reduce the load.
I bought this boat after wiewing all your videos, because I was impressed by the speed it goes with this small motor...

    Default wiping the dust off....Veles 29 hits 79mph with a 1715 test prop & 70mph w/stock prop

Here is my boat again first run with a dasboata test prop (1715) and was 1mph short of my personal best of 80mph with my best prop. I believe she's right and ready for my good stuff now...By the way I got 70mph with the stock prop today as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWH62jNz5u8

    Hello,

    today's speed is 76.25mph with a 1716-17-45, 5000 mAh /45c packs charged at 4.2V per cell.
This more pitched prop sticks the startboad side to the water. I bought this prop by mistake, I wanted to buy the 1715...
Next , I will spend more time on this prop and I will put some weight on the port side, I already have some pictures from the GPS but no video. I will post a video of the next coming 80 mph+

Nice she's rippin'. If you want post it on the Veles fast list ( https://forums.offshoreelectrics.com...eles-Fast-List!!! ) I'll add you to the modified section. I believe this is the first Modded one I've seen that is actually running a with a gps. I got 83.5mph with my Geico v3 a couple of days ago with some fresh packs with my Dynamite combo LOL!...I need to get my Veles back out and get her wet along with my Zelos. Looking for better numbers with both boats.

    hello,

    thanks for your interest!
May be my Veles reached 80mph, but I have no proof, my Gps caught water 2 weeks ago, and failed shorly after...
I have a new one, which will be packed in some plastic wrap as a precaution...
Still, it will be difficult with this prop, because, it can either glue the boat on the starboard, or being airborne. Our pond is very small also, and I can crash the boat on concrete blocks...I will put back the original rudder blade, to see if the handling improves at these speed.
If I am not successfull, I will use some tricks to gain speed, keeping motor, esc, 6S standart.

I am still far off, but this boat should reach more than 80mph.

Today the mod-veles did 84mph;had one serious flip at ~80mph
anyways, first lap with fresh packs was the fastest.
Hull can take a good hit-no damage was done..
Maybe time to get one of those top notch props.

Thinking about trying of of these and had some questions:
    1) Is the stock flex all better now, or should I just replace it with a .187 cable and lose the liner (not a big liner fan) ?
    2) Wanting to run this on 6s for efficiency but I know the 2000 KV motor will be a little hot so does anyone run 6s in oval trim (no interest in SAW running) and if so what smaller prop is recommended? I have a couple 40mm ABC 2 and 3 blade chopper style props I can try first. I would be happy with 55mph in oval trim for a 2-3 minute run.
    3) I am assuming the boat comes configured for a series battery setup but I like to run all my boats in parallel whenever possible so what is the max height lipo and weight that is recommended in this hull? If 6s will fit under the deck I would like to run 6s 3000mah packs in parallel.

    Raydee,
I have yet to break my stock flex but I changed it out anyways to a .150 cable that Travis (kfxguy) made for me. The tallest Lipo I was able to get in the boat was a 5000mah 4s that is 39mm tall and it wouldn't go all the way back in the tray but it was real close and a very tight fit to get in the boat. Yes, the boat has the series plug made onto the esc as well. I have a video somewhere of my boat running laps with a special tricked out Prather ss220 from Chris and the boat got 62mph with it. I ran the entire 6s setup WOT laps the whole run and temps were no hotter than 125° on both esc and motor in 90° weather. With a x440-3 the speed was high 60's right at 70mph. Can't remember the temps but they were tolerable.

Good info, that was with two 3s lipos in series?

Ok last question for a little while, what is the width of the battery tray? The lipo's I am looking to use are a little on the wide side.

The trays are 45mm wide. However they aren't very deep and the straps are pretty long (almost too long IMO) and they will accommodate a wider pack if you use a silicone mat or similar in the bottom of the tray to slightly raise the pack up to allow them to slightly hang over the edge of it and you would probably be good. I use the silicone battery mats from Hobby king and they work well to keep the packs in place in my other boats that have the composite trays that tend to be a little on the slick side. BTW Horizon currently has this boat on sale for $399.00.
