Yours is a V5.7, Ray. Same as the boats in post #1.

It's experimental in truth Ray. We're not looking to fix P limited. Limited was NAMBA so I couldn't possible care less if that ever gets fixed.

This is something new. We like to think of it as the next generation of spec racing. Idea is that you get to choose......or don't choose....... The equipment we've used for years in the old limited classes works up against this new spec. Proved that in AZ. Ray was cleaning up. Ty's limited offshore was right in there with the old tech too. I ran a TP. Ty had a Dynamite and we finished a 1/4 lap apart I think. So you don't need to upgrade (side grade?) unless you just want to.

    ...and found.

Thanks for the details. My yellow cans are showing signs of impending death so I invested in some blue cans cause they were a darn good deal.

I look inside the Dynamite and see a crap load of copper, not so much in the yellow cans... I sold my one TP motor long ago and that was a mistake. Oh well... blue it is for me for now.

I find it a PITA that a spec motor costs almost as much a an open motor. That's silly but a reality none the less.

That's what we're checking on Ray. I just don't believe that paying 100's for a motor is going to net a reward in this class with a size limit. There are some really good motors for cheap now. Those blue can Proboat motors are the real deal.

I cut the pcs for the new nose pc. It came together nicely. The previous nose weighed in at 5.6oz, even with the relief holes. The new one only weighs 1.5oz!!!

The top and bottom sheeting fits like a glove. Very happy with how this came out. I sanded the bottom face edges at 45deg to compensate for glue fillets underneath, and to allow more surface area for glue to adhere.

Can this mod be added to a 5.7 to make the build easier?

Larry, I never found 1" half round. I ended up cutting 1" dowel in half on the band saw. Not easy. You can't twist it.

Ray, Yes. I can cut you some nose pcs next time I'm out there if you want. It will definitely save you time.

Would 1" foam be lighter ? Easy to sand to shape. You could skin it with stiff fiberglass or thin plywood.

Great idea Larry. You could even trim out some of it before you joint the two halves. Even more weight savings.

I fabricated the nose of an 8255 Oberto from two part foam. Lots of easy sanding. Then glassed it. Light and strong as nails.

You can get creative and make a lot of parts (sponsons, nose piece, etc) from foam. Cutting foam with hot wire or sanding to shape, then coating with fiberglass. Spray a light mist coat of 3M spray adhesive to shaped foam. then lay down fiberglass cloth and epoxy. Lots of videos on YouTube.com that show how. There are lots of old RC Airplane tricks.

What? You are finally making a longer more stable version. You will see that it will turn just as good as the shorter version. And be more stable down the straits without blow over. Cool

    Unleaded...........

It is still 33.5" long. I do plan on a smaller (lsh size) and larger (Q size), but not immediately. I understand your comment regarding a longer hull though, similar to a dragster or funny car keeping its front wheels on the ground. I see you have an extended strut. That's a good idea. I took a different approach with this hull. It has tapered air bleeds that keep the pressure underneath to a minimum. I haven't heard of anyone blowing these over, even at speeds in excess of 65mph.

It's already the most stable P sport I've ever driven.

This spec boat I'm doing is an experiment to see if a big boat can hang with the stealths. I'm pretty confident.

It is very nice. Thank you for sharing pictures. I like that you left most of the bottom unpainted wood.

Did you get the Speed Master stuff anodized or did you buy it that way? Turn fin mount at first I thought it was from an RC car part then I saw the back.

its custom anodized....the turn fin mount is accu tech with a graupner sailboat turnbuckle added to alu mounts in the hull.
