Yes, but only the insides.
Yes, but only the insides.
Thx!

I'm actually looking forward to starting another of these. Thinking I'm getting the shakes with so many boats in AZ.

Have you finished the first yet or is it 1/2 way done?
Nortavlag Bulc
The first one is done. Pretty quick too. Here's a pic before hardware went on it.

Not sure if you can see it but there are aluminum spikes down it's spine. Sorta.

Love the aluminum accents Terry

It looks evil in the water. I call it the Dragon. We use to call my old Whip20 the Led Sled. That thing is still scary fast.
Noisy person
The led sled is a true warrior. It left us all in the dust a few years ago, but something lurking below popped up and flipped her on the last turn. Terry, can I put the dragon on post #1 with the other boats??
I don't care Pete.
I need to fix the canopy still. I got a little too aggressive and rolled a buoy. With the KK fin you can really lay into the turn. Broke the blister free from it's mooring.
Noisy person
Tyler just asked if he could run the sled this season until we got his done. He said then I wouldn't have to rush and make a mess of it. hahaha Anybody got some bubble gum? Maybe some scotch tape?
I've got a cool canopy idea in my head for it. I may do something unnatural to the transom on it too. Still on the fence with that idea though.
Noisy person
unnatural?
Starting to look like a boat.
Hi Pete.
Looking good as usual.
A quick question.
Have you, or anyone else for that matter, put a 6s setup in one of these?
Not so much for extra speed, but mainly for a lower ampdraw setup.
I'm thinking of giving it a try with mine. Just not sure what kv motor to try. I've got a 4082 1600kv lying around. Too much do you think?

That's a good question, and seems to be a fairly common one lately. No, I have never tried a 6S setup in this boat. We typically run 1250KV for 6S setups on the Q size boats, although some folks have successfully ran 1400KV in heat racing (6 laps + mill + penalty laps). I agree that the 4S setup is an amp hog.
I remember reading that you guys run (1) battery up front on the 4S setup for this class. The current draw has got to be absolute torture on that single battery. We run (2) 4500mah batts in parallel. This boat runs very 'wet' out of the box and requires very high speed to lift it out of the water. It was designed to stay planted and 'finish', but that doesn't help the amp draw!
Thanks Pete.
Yes 1p setups for all our classes here.
I run 1250 & 1350 kv motors in my 6s boats.
I did have a 1440kv motor in my Gp400 hydro. But I've sold that one now. It won last years championship.
But they are much bigger &can handle bigger props.
I figure a smaller prop runnung at slightly higher revs might keep it a bit more settled.

Sounds like a plan. I'm going to try something similar with a 2400KV in P sport this year. I'd love to see you guys run. Do you have any videos of your races?
Here's a video of the last EB (6s) Sports Hydro race, last year.
But Pete puts up videos of a lot of the other classes too on his site including our restricted classes & EA (4s) classes in riggers, cats, monos etc. And some 1/8 scale.

These are great vids!! Thanks!!!
So I've been working with Terry to take some weight out of the boat. Ball was talking about this a couple years ago, but I never had the courage to try it. I went to the shop and cut some pcs last night. I think it looks decent.
Add the new 'stick built' nose pc, and the new boat weighs only HALF that of the older V5.7!! Hard to believe.
Here's the frame of the new nose. It's designed for a 1" half round in front. Would you believe that 1" half round is impossible to find??!!
Pete, when I get done with it you'll be shocked at the weight. Not even painting it. Seal it....done.
Noisy person
You might have the perfect recipe for success here. Everyone knows this boat runs wet with all the extra venting. The lighter weight might really free it up.
Terry, are you lightening the first kit you bought like mine? I'm curious if I can safely lighten it up a bit. Where and how's?
Nortavlag Bulc
Ray,
Terry's first one is already built (the dragon). This is a new one with updated frames shown in post #80.
Unfortunately, my builds are slower than the updates! I now have a V5.7 in primer, a V6.2 just about ready to be sealed, and now I'm starting to frame up a V7.0LT!
Hmmm....
I don't know if I'll get to building mine. I have so much other stuff to do. I also overstretched myself with boat kits. I can only afford so many boats and this one may have to go or sit indefinitely, sorry.
With the changes in rules some are going gangbusters on Mah and power. I don't think I'll ever be able to keep up with that financially.
Been trying to sell a Cyberstorm and no bites. What to do...
What version is my kit?
Nortavlag Bulc
I didn't thin anything up on that one. For full P leave it fat.
This next build is for M Spec.
Noisy person
Mmm K. What is M Spec? I'm guessing LSH?
I'll just build it and have it ready. It's worth more built than in a box in pieces.
Nortavlag Bulc
M spec is the future. LSH is the past. haha
