Not finishing resin but yes. Finishing resin has wax in it. My understanding

I usually coat it when I go to glue it down.

Wait for others to chime in.

If it's for full P power or more, I do one coat, wait about 1/2 hour and add a bit more then start taping/clamping.

I use slow set epoxy, MAS or West Systems, etc.

    What glue?

That reminds me Pete. For P we had to add a tail ring. For spec should be no biggy.

Been working on the spec boat with Terry. Basically just copied the sponson mods on Ty's boat. You cant argue with success!

Not solid works. Much more elaborate actually. Not sure Pete can share that information.

Pete, I'm not sure how much you can open up the holes in it before it gets flimsy but yes please.

I use Solid works as well. I actually like it better. I just opened up the holes in the front. I plan to cut the first frames Wednesday.

The Pearl is a solid design. My hull is one of the originals (built by Pete) that was disbanded because it “didn’t” work. Insert Mike and his sponson mods makes for a pretty quick boat too!

Uploading to YouTube destroys the video quality. I am probably doing something wrong...

So by the looks of it the air bleed channel is widened and the sponsons has no step? Is that right?

I don't know what resolution you recorded it as Mike, but it is only uploaded to youtube as 480p, and shot vertically so only about 300 pixels wide, shooting horisontally helps quality as does uploading as higher resolutions.

You can upload it with a even higher resolution than you actually shot, so if you record in 1080p you can upload it as a 4k video, it will still only be 1080p, but the 4k upload allows more bandwidth so it will compress the 1080p footage less and be better quality than if you just upload it as 1080.

That boat has a lot of history and its only 4yrs old. Jimmy had it for awhile, then traded it back to me for a later version! And.....it's SN001!!! So......let's see what you did to it Mike!!!!! Congrats on the record by the way.

You got it. No step on the sponsons and bleeding more air. Those photos in post #367 are already obsolete. I cut a kit and it just didn't look right. The tunnel was way too narrow. I widened the tunnel but kept the same transom width. Looks much better now. Just about ready to cut it.

I had no idea you could upload at higher res than it was shot. Reduces compression. Good to know!!

OK, so here is the first spec boat. It is 31" long. Nothing glued, just fitted together. It was designed to fit the UL-1 hatch and nose with a piece of 3/4" round stock glued to the front. The airfoil is pretty aggressive on the leading edge.

The bottom is far from traditional. A lot of air bleeding.

It's not the roomiest thing under the hood, but I guess it wasn't designed to be a luxury vehicle! It's the F1 class of FE!!

I did manage to pack (2) 4S graphene 4000's, which are very long.

Any one interested in a new cowl for there boat?

OK - made my first pull from this new mould.
    It turned out very good.
This mould was made to fit the 20/40 Wiplash
I cut the cowl to fit in the Black Pearl - It fits perfectly (curvature on the front fits), There is enough room on the surface's of the cowl, to move the bubble forward 2" or to the rear 1 1/4" from where it is in the pictures.

I will start making some of these next week, MP me if interested.
