At 1050 kv , can be used at 10s for the most ?
If I wanted to run it in a mono between 10s and 12s with prop changes between like an 0ctura x455 and a x460 will this motor work. A bit of a novice as you can tell . Oh it's a single
I would say in a larger mono, bigger than 40" a 455 or 460 would be a good choice. I had a 45" Hydro with both of those props and a 780kv motor on 10s. Anything smaller in hull size is overkill I think. I cant remember the formula to figure out the kv in WYE(STAR) vs Delta. I have it here somewhere. If I find it, I'll post it, or maybe someone can chime in. In any case, when changing from Delta to WYE(STAR) the KV drops to allow for more voltage.

In Star-config it will run about 600 Kv, do not run this motor in Delta config on 10s in a mono except for SAW.
It will burn Your esc.
But in Star with 10-12s2p and a 470 Octura you could move everything

Please someone correct me if this is wrong.
Delta KV divided by 1.73.
So 1050kv / 1.73 = 606.94....
14s = 3.7 x 14 =51.8v...
So 51.8v x 607kv= 31,643 rpm
or
10s = 37v
37v x 1050kv = 38,850 rpm
OR
depending on how you represent battery voltage
@ 3.7v or 4.2v (discharged vs fully charged battery)
14S = 4.2v X 14 = 58.8v
58.8v X 607kv = 35,691 rpm
or
10s = 42v
42v x 1050kv = 44,100 rpm
You need a VERY good speed controller.

Don't use 4.2 volts for this type of calculation, the motor never sees this voltage under load. 3.7 is a better average loaded voltage although a bit low. Kv x volts does not provide loaded rpm, this is heavily influenced by motor and ESC efficiency, and pack quality. IME a better formula for estimating loaded rpm with loads around 150 amps is:
Kv x 3.7 x 0.85 = loaded rpm
Again just an estimate, but more useful than Kv x volts
To leandre - if you want to run 10S to 12S the Delta wind is not the way to go. Wye wind Kv is about 600, so on 12S expect a loaded rpm around 23,000. An x460/2 should work well, as would an x455/3 on a correctly trimmed mono from 40-45" long.

Sorry, but you are very wrong. I speak from experience, the 3080 motor is perfect for large gas monos. At least three club members have run 3080s in their 42-45" racing monos and they were ballistic, topping out between 60-75 mph depending on the prop used. In races they ran away and hid from 'most all gas powered monos. They work great in single cats and sport hydros of the same size too. You just need to choose the right Kv.You do not run this motor in a 40-45 mono. Its to heavy...

Keep in mind too that Lehner's are rated "under load" for Kv bringing final rpm up noticeably.
Oh and I know a guy who runs a single 3080/9 (583Kv) in a 67" mono turning an X470 on 12S2P...just to give an idea of what these motors are capable of.

I could use your advice on these and if it would be appropriate for the application I'm thinking of. I may be crazy for speed! I'm considering Storm Cat or a Cat in the 48"-50 plus inches. Would both of these be an overkill installed in a Large Cat?

Not At all. I ran that motor in an R42 75plus easy. Not as a dual but single.

Bit of a tip here, reduce the 10mm shafts to 8mm, then try car forums, i'm already running a 8mm 3080 in a 1/6th car so no advantage to me, good luck
