It will be interesting to see how sensitive the boat responds to the Rc flaps. I was thinking of doing a similar system on the rear fin of my 1/8th 7-11 hydro.

Yeah, I hope I didn't over think having the flaps on a servo and that it's worth the functionality and being able to adjust them while your running pays off. Thank you Beaux!

I have the flaps on my Smokin Joes working as well, I was thinking of mixing them into my steering so they are up on the straights and flat on the corners.

Right now I have it on a auxiliary channel controlled by a knob by the handle using my thumb to control but I also thought about mixing it with the throttle so at full throttle they would be up and slowing down in the corners they would flatten out. On my last hydro (circus circus) I was able to keep it pinned on the entire lap so don't know if mixing with throttle would pay off. Would love to see some pics of how your front flaps are hooked up if possible. I've never built a (scale) hydro before just built boats and painted them however. Thank you tho, it's been a challenge but I dig it.
Sure, hopefully this vid will work, it's a pretty tight squeeze in mine with 10s but man it sure goes :). I'm using a receiver pack for now waiting for a new bec that's on the slow boat.

How did you seal the hole for the rod. I actually had to make a crescent shaped slot for the rod that threads into the flap. I was so exited about coming up with the idea that when I set it up, the control rod doesn't rotate on the hinge axis but right behind it giving it that crescent rotation. I came up the idea of using a control rod rubber seal on the assembly that will be pressed against the side of the hull to seal it. Hopefully it seals good since that's where the batteries and esc are going to be. Will post a pic later this week when I put it together.
I wasn't the original builder of this hull but it looks like a solid shaft in a couple nesting brass tubes, it must be a fairly good seal I haven't noticed it leaking.

If U don't mind me asking what weight Carbon fiber and brand of resign did U use. I'm just about to that point in my build and need to order some materials
Think it was 7oz, got it on ebay. If you mean design, didn't really have one. Just wanted to do the center section so when I set up the motor and battery tray it pops. I'm also using clear plexiglass covers so when cowl is off you can see the setup. I actually cut it in squares and rectangles then resin'd it in to just give it the carbon look. I put bigger pieces in the sponsors to help tie all the wood together
