A bit more info would help, manufacturer, model, Inrunner out runner etc? Number of poles referees to the number of poles on the motor, 2,4,6 etc

    Cool

"Poles" refers to the number of magnets in the motor. A 4-pole inrunner has 4 magnet segments on the internal rotor. A 10-pole outrunner has 10 magnet segments on the external rotor. More detailed information can be found here:

    http://www.radiocontrolinfo.com/brushless-motor-poles/

There is no one "best" type, it depends on the use for the motor. High torque/lower rpm applications are well served by high pole count outrunners. High rpm applications are well served by 2 and 4 pole motors. For most FE sport running, the 4 or 6 pole motors work great.

    Cool

There never was a 2150 Kv motor in a stock SuperVee so we still know nothing about it. But if the motors are of the same quality and size, the pole count means nothing. It is the Kv which matters, the 2150 will require a smaller prop and will stress the ESC more than the 1800 will. Since the SuperVee is hull limited in speed, there is no real advantage to the 2150 motor since the 1800 will drive the boat faster than it can safely handle.

following up on this topic, what about two Dynamite 2000kv motors, one 4 pole, one 6 pole? Aside from physical size, does the 6 pole offer a performance increase over the 4 pole, perhaps an increase in torque?

    6P is a 36mm X 62mm
    2000KV
    25V max.

    4P is a 36mm X 50mm
    2400KV not 2000KV
    12.6V max

The larger motor is better all around, More Watts, More Torque
Unless your hull is very small, then stay with the 36/50

Thanks Larry. Just trying to decipher the differences between given motors based on the printed specs.

Yes, 6 pole has more torque than 4 pole with all being equal.
