Default new guy with reciever and cf question

I am building my first boat, a carbon cheetah. I received a spektrum DX2E for dads day. it came with a SR310 receiver. the antenna is only 6 inches long. the boat is so big the plug wires from my servo and esc will only allow a mid ship mount, and that leaves me very few antenna mount options. I went to my local hobby shop (mostly truck and drone) and asked about options. they claimed the antenna does not even have to come through the hull and to just tape it up under the deck. I believe from doing some searching on the forum this wont work! is this true? is it the CF? any help on this is appreciated.
also the plug wire from the esc is wrapped around what I think is a filter ring. is this necessary? if I unwrapped it I could move the receiver farther aft to a better spot for an antenna mount.

Your LHS was wrong, you will need to get the antenna outside *that* hull to guarantee good communications. Get a servo extension, http://www.ebay.com/itm/9-Assorted-R...wAAOSwvg9Xc1zT Tape/velcro the receiver high inside the hull into a tube that's sold here. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=aero-6028
Do not remove the ferrite ring, it's there for a reason. http://www.rchelination.com/ferrite-...-you-use-them/

is it okay to use the extension on the ESC to mount the reciever aft, or use it on the servo only?

The cables, and connectors *from* the ESC to the receiver and from it to the servo are *essentially* the same. Once you extend the wires from your ESC, and *plant/locate* your receiver, the rudder servo shouldn't be that far away, and should not need an extension, for they are now both aft. You have a fine hull there rainfly, what parts do you already have? Sport, or speed? Realize it's your first build, take your time, and ask questions. We're here for you.
OOPS, LOL you could also just lengthen the wires instead of buying extenders.
