Where to buy Rubycon ZL Caps for a good price?

Hey guys,

Rubycon ZL caps at places like digikey and newark are a little pricey along with their crazy prices for shipping ($20+). Does anyone have any other good stores for these? Has anyone had any luck with the ones people sell on Ebay? They are usually old or used stock... Not sure about the reliability of those.

ZL series are a bit hard to find especially for the voltage/sizes that I need...

I buy mine from Newark and use a business account for shipping. OSE sells the 35V 1000uF ZLH caps.
I would not trust eBay purchases unless you know the vendor well. There are a lot of fakes out there.

What do they charge you for shipping at newark for your biz account?

Maybe I'll try making one of those... if its not too much a hassle.

$10 approximately. I have argued with them before because most of the caps come from the UK office.

Tyler, Yea -- I noticed that too... Any ideas why they ship everything from UK all the time? Thought they always had plenty of american stock here...

I noticed they stopped stocking ZL'S in USA a while ago at the normal retailers. I've bought from this guy on eBay.

I'm taking a chance trusting that he's American and has 100% feedback. Hey, I've trusted the same in OSE swap shop!

Ray, typically if you message them they can tell you how old their cap stock is and whether it's used or new, etc... I'll message them and see what they say.

Tyler, speaking of caps... does DrWayne's method of arranging cap banks in parallel/series work for you? I haven't really come across anyone that seems to use it in their setups, especially SAW boats.

Do you think it's best to just stick to the usual paralleled cap banks?

Nope, I use the right voltage and don't series them. Yes smaller ones in series can have better performance but only when short leads are used and close to the board.

They are better alternatives than caps in series.

Really? Hmm... 1000uf is a good size then for parallel banks? or should I go a bit smaller like 470uf.
