Thanks Fluid, I had the 4074 2200 kv in the mm 2 on 4s it seemed to be working to hard , 55.5 is all I could get out of her. The tp 4070 was in the pirate on 4s it was chine walking bad so I swapped them . I' like the SAW idea so I put a Swordfish
300AHV with the tp 4070 in the mm2. My grand son wants to run the pirate. Im running M440 and X640 props.

I started working on my Pirate again, life happened I had to put her on the shelf. Wondering if Leo 4074 2000 kv, HobbyWing 180a, Flourene 14.8v 30c 3500mah and a x445 would work.
Just for sport boating. Thank's for your input.

The battery sounds too small. At 3500, the runtime will be very short! Also, 30C is only 100A, that’s probably at least where it will run. The battery needs a good de-rate, if you want it to have a long life. This is a mono, so the hull drag is high, I think you need 5000 and at least 40C, I never go below 50... Its a good boat, have fun with it!

Oh, two of those batts in parallel sound closer to me...

Thanks I've got some room so parallel might work out. Thanks again.

That is paint. Thanks, I'm in the process of redoing the blue and the stars. The blue ended on the red and it should have ended on the white. I'll have some new pictures later.

An x447 should be acceptable but not too much.

The above assumes 4S. On 6S a Kv of 2200 is SAW territory and generally not appropriate for a sport boat.

    Beautiful boat BTW!

    .
Are you using the tp-4070 cm version 2200kv motor? If yes, id suggest sell the seaking 180 and get a 300-400 amp esc. Otherwise, you might end up with a paper weight of an esc rather quickly.

    the tp-4070 2200 on 4s

No, I down sized to a leo 4074 2000kv for my grandson to run. I put the tp 4070 with a sf 300a in my Mean Machine 2.

Its a bit small, id suggest 4s max with a smallish sized 40mm or so prop.

I have a x 445 prop. It's for my grandson to learn with. I know there's room to grow with it.

That’s still sounds like a big prop at close to 30,000rpm for a young driver. 440 to 442 sounds more reasonable.

I got the blue and the stars repainted last night, going to pick up the clear this morning. Should have it shot by nine.

I wish I could take a better picture the shine on this is unbelievable . I used laquer spray cans for the red white and blue and cleared
it with six good coats of urethane with my spray gun. I call this boat America, love it or get the he]] out.

Does anybody know what a good starting point for the cog would be for this boat? I'm fixing to put in some battery trays and I want to get them close.

A good starting point for most monos would be 30% from transom, monos usually range from 28% - 32%.

I’m running 30% on my DF 29, it’s handling great. Not sure if that applies to the 35 or not, but I think 30% is pretty generic.

Thanks, that's where I have it. I usually don't do battery trays, but I set them where I can adjust both ways. Thanks again.

FWIW, I run a 4s and 6s config in my DF29, using 2s batt packs. On 6s, I have a pack on each side with one in the middle, ahead of the motor. On 4s, I take out the center pack. The faster you run the boat, the more forward you will want to set the CG, so keeping your options open to move your packs is a good play in my book.
