    Default Great News

Great News......last Sunday we recovered 18 of the 21 stolen RC boats smile emoticon:) With the help of so many people, Jason Sims and I drove non-stop to Michigan and met with some guys who came forward with the boats and some of the other RC gear.....(They were not the thieves) Sorry for the delayed announcement, but we are still hopeful to recover the remaining 3 boats and possible other gear. Really can not disclose many of the details, please understand & appreciate that I can't give any more information for now, but just know how happy Fede and I are to have these boats back at home in the trailer that had also been recovered 5 days after that terrible day at the Embassy Suites. So many thanks to everyone's help, generosity, & sympathetic ears for these trying last 8 weeks.......Yes I actually have my smile back !!! Now Fede and I can start planning next year's racing smile emoticon:) This certainly seems like some kind of miracle....The turn around in our misfortunes definetely proves there are many good people in the Detroit metro and Michigan area. Thanks again to everyone.

I realize there is probably no crime in CA, but let's get down off that high horse.
LOL! I lived south of L.A. back in the 80's. There was a saying then, "there is no life east of I-405". They got some fun little places like Compton, Watts, Inglewood. I got shot at, mugged, and forced to move with police escort in daylight, the cops would not go to that neighborhood after dark. Moved a week after Rodney King riots. Crime is everywhere! At least where I live now, I can carry protection.

ABSOLUTELY, but the media only shows up the 10% of the crap heads in the country.

properchopper, the range and battery are quite limited on that. It's mostly good for purses etc.

    Hey Tony and everyone,
I have been researching these trackers.
Most of the better units require a monthly fee, which range from $29 to $59 per month.
I did find 1 high end unit that only requires activation fees....kind of pay as you need to track it.
The rates are $15 for 5 pings or $50 for up to 100 pings for a 1 year period.
Here is the link from the Rocky Mountain Tracker Website. They sell most of the better G3 cell
phone based units and said this is one of the better units despite having no monthly fees.

    http://www.rmtracking.com/vehicle_re...rt_tracker.php

I will let everyone know how well they work as 2 of them should be coming my way tonight.
One for the truck and 1 for trailer.
Hope this info helps someone else.

Btw....I have also found out that adding the "Device Manager" app from Google to your cell
can turn your Android phone into a tracking device similar to the way the IPhones work.

When I find more useful tips I will try to post them as well.

Ken, Great news! Happy for you that you've recovered most of your boats and hope you have continued success in recovering the rest of your equipment.
I for one will be keeping up with this hopefully to find out how you managed this. As for the perps, hope they get what they deserve.
    The mystery continues.

Ken my vehicle was equipped with a LoJack from the dealer. It's hidden so well on the vehicle that I don't know where it is. I carry a card with a special code that I give to the police if it's stolen.
They now have portable units, but you would have to keep it charged, and hidden, cuz if the thief sees it, -------
