three criteria for selecting an rx pack 1) size(will it fit) 2) runtime 3)can you charge at the 'pond'. once you answer those you'll be well on your way to selecting one(or get a ubec). as an example; for my no step 1(19t) space is kinda tight, run times are about 3-4min(roughly 15min max), and I can charge at the pond. so I'm using a 5cell hump pack (2/3 aa) 350 mah, it fits and has enough capacity. for the mean machine I've got room so I went w/ a 5cell hump sub-c at 1600 mah...I can run that one for quite some time

    Cool

LiPos will over-volt either the receiver or the servos. I suggest a 5-cell NiMH pack, a 1400mAh pack is not too big, an extra ounce or two of weight is nothing and may help keep the boat on the water if you make mods. I use both 350 mAh and 1200mAh 5-cell packs in all my boats, the small pack only in the LSH boat. Get a switch while you are at it....

    Default Just added RX pack

I just picked up a super small 4 cell pack rated at 750 mah. Fits really well in the BJ...

Brand is Hitec, got it from HobbyPeople in town.

it all depends on the type of esc your running some like you say take the power from your lipo's while others require a seperate power pack to run servo's etc iam running a top end etti esc which requires a rx pk

ok so ihave been running my BJ with
    ammo motor
    etti 150amp esc
    fullers cat hardware
    x642
    2x 6600mah 20c lipo's
    futaba r606 2.4 ghx rx

and powered by a 1200mah 6v nimh humpback rx pack

but iam only getting 1 run from it when i say 1 run iam talking about roughly 15min duration from the pack rated at 1200 mah which to me is a poor proformance is this right ?? the pack is new and only been charged a handfull of times........

should i go for a bigger mah pack if this is the norm or go lipo ??

    please advise guys !
