Miltoggie - How old is that boat? If it's still under warranty, you might try contacting Horizon Hobby to see of they'll cut you a break on a replacement hull. They don't cover crash damage, but it appears to me from that picture you didn't strike anything, other than water, and the carnage is more severe than most crashes involving solid objects that I've seen. The seams on this hull are no where as weak as the ones I've experienced with the Proboat v-bottom hulls. I crashed my first Zelos up onto a rocky shore during a turn when I lost sight of the boat in the spray. It tore up the front of the sponsons pretty good (chips and scrapes mostly) and later, once the decals were peeled back, there was some hairline cracking at the seams along the sides of the hull, but no where near like your separation. My current Zelos has had more flips at speeds over 80mph than I can count. I have a carbon inlay in that hull along with resin and chopped carbon in the tips and show only minor stress cracks in the gelcoat.

There is no strength in a uni directional Fiber glass matt,,, and you can see it get thin in spots,, the strongest is a cloth all FG cloths have intersecting 90* angles ,,,which help make it very strong,, I do most of my boat seems with 2 " FG tape I think it is 1-1/2oz

Several people on this forum choose to run 2x 6S packs vs. 4x 3S. If you're buying new packs, check the measurements to make sure they'll fit under the deck. If not, you'll be limited on their position in the battery trays and how much you can affect your COG.

No problem. I assume you are referring to my signature below my post. 3831 is the new Dynamite motor DYN-3831 that Pro Boat is using in their RTR boats because the old DYN-3910 motors have been discontuned. The new Veles 29, UL-19 and Zelos 36 come with them now. As you can see the aren't too shabby combined with a decent setup .Lol

I just watched a video of your Z...Wow! I'm guessing all the cart-wheel action it was doing may have led up to the side blowing out.

Honestly I am not even mad or upset I was more surprised at where it split and if you look on the inside only one sheet of fg was on there and not even all the way to the top, again I am not mad. Fixing it as we speak, stuff that happens so its all good.

I saw that video as well. I give you a 9.5 for the acrobatics. Too bad it didn't have a happy ending. It certainly looks like the damage is repairable. Since you will have to strip the hull, you may want to consider reinforcing the battery tray mounts and the tips of the sponsons as well. On the Zelos, the tray is prone to pulling out. I wouldn't be surprised if it ripped out on that flip already. I noticed that after the boat buried its transom, it landed right side up and you continued on your way. The video doesn't show how much further you went before coming back in. It's my 2 cents that after a crash like that, you should come right in to check the motor alignment, lipo position, struts, etc.... before continuing to run. Good luck with the repairs.

I also filed down those water pickups sticking out the bottom of the hull, and cut reliefs like we typically do for every other boat:

Any word on how these motor mounts turned out? Thanks

For this I have always used Callie graphics and they are far better then the OEM. Also mine now has some sweet hull graphics from Darkside studios, and also cut a sheet of the material for the bottom of hull as it is 3 layers thick. Can review photos on the regular thread. donnie

    Default Hull mods

What I have done with mine is to overlay the outside side edges with carbon fiber cloth using marine epoxy as my adhesive. Also run 2" wide C.F. strip along all interior seams. Then I filled the front points with a mixture of C.F chips and epoxy as well as C.F. cloth overlay at equipment tray. Lastly the Graphics. Think she's a pretty tough gal now.. Enjoy donnie

    Hi. Guys

Got my zelos 36 around one month ago. Nothing but problems out of the box. 1.st run after 8-10 min I lost shaft and prop I right side in the water :-( find out the flexshaft was binding in liner where it was solder on. Left side was fine except it was not straight where it was solder on but no binding issue .
Got a replacement flex shaft for right side on warranty and install it and align it. but same problem again start binding after 2,5 lipo pack.
I use graupner, heavy duty marine grease.
so what am I doing wrong can't make this boat run whiteout flexshaft problems.

First make sure your alignment is right. Don't put too much faith in how the boat came from the factory. You say the flex was binding in the liner where it was soldered. On mine, that cant happen. The solder joint is in the strut. The drive dog prevents the prop shaft from going past the strut and going that far into the liner. If not, you would not be able to adjust the strut height. You need the flexible part of the shaft to allow for movement.
Could you possible have the wrong flexshafts? Utmost importance is to MAKE SURE you have the flex shafts going in the right direction. The props should spin inwards. The winding on the flex shafts should tighten as they are turned. If not, big troubles will happen. I would also suggest getting a good set of flex shafts from OSE. Much better quality than the ones from ProBoat.
If the left side shaft is not soldered straight, don't use it. No good can come from that.

That's real bad. Looks like you have the flexes spinning in the correct direction. There must be some sort of alignment issue there. That port flex is junk, don't use it. I would replace the liners as well. You should not have any issues if you get new flexes and get everything aligned properly. When you reinstall that strut, you will have to align it with the brass tubing. It does have quite a bit of wobble room there. I would also make sure that the other strut is aligned with the brass. Make sure you put some silicone sealer between the transom and strut, or it will leak.

Just saw your video. Wow..... Don't have a reason for that one. I hope the aftermarket OSE flexes you get will fix your issues.
