I have a 90-100 size seaducer that's set up for fe that I am planning to put together sometime soon that will be more for saw than oval because I don't race and do it mostly for fun and wanted to see how fast I could push it on 10s, mind you I'm not trying to break any records or anything but would like to see it hit 80+ and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were for motor/esc/prop combo.

Was thinking neu 2220-12 1y or 2225-12 1y with a X460-465 and possibly a swordfish 300a esc?

If Money is no object I would recommend a Lehner 3080/7 or 3080/8 Props and Controller you are on target unless you want to spend the bucks on an MGM. I'm not sure a 2202 or 2225 would get you there. Close though.

I fooled around with the speed calculator for a bit and the 2225 with a 65mm prop should get me around 85 or so and the 2220 would get around 95 with a 60mm prop with the slip set at 25% but I wanted to also check the calculator against a boat I was already running and according to the calculator I should only be running 50mph or so but the boat in question actually runs in the mid 60s after constantly working on the prop, adjusting the strut and playing with the cg so I don't know if the calculator is even accurate or if it's more or less a guideline and gives an estimate for a boat that's not dialed in with a bunch of prop work done on it, and in all honesty as aired out as my 4s seaducer gets when it's at full tilt I don't think it's actually at 25% slip anymore.

Basically what I did was built a test dummy out of the 4s boat with a safe oval setup and used it as a learning platform to figure out what things worked and what things didn't before building a much larger one and watching it go up in smoke, I learned a lot about prop work for sure! The fastest I've gotten it was 67 with the cg set at about 28.5% the strut about as high as I can get it, X450/2 de-tongued and thinned as much as possible and obviously balanced and sharpened. I still haven't tried any cupping yet but there's always tomorrow lol.

Not sure the 2220 or 2225 have the Watts to do it. I have a Neu 2220 on 10S in a blazer Gas Whip. The best I can get is about 70mph. (Wattage limited) I build the same boat for a buddy and we put in a 3080 and with a 465 BAM 87mph out of the Box first run. Just sayin..... Go with the 2225 if you are sold on Neu....I think it could do it.

What kv is your 2220, and his 3080?
The 2220 1y is 1190kv and the 2225 1y is 960kv

If yours is a 1y your hydroplane should be flying, no pun intended.

My 2220'is the 1.5y. About 720 kv I think.

The 2220 is about equal to a 3040 lehner. IMO. We have noticed that the lehners are quite a bit better on 10s than the comparable Neus. I have a 2230 in a mono that the best I can do with a 300 amp controller is about 65. On 12s that motor really comes to life. If we swap in a 3080/7 or /8. We easily hit 75 with the 10s. Just my observations though.
