Are gear boxes allowed in P-spec classes? If not, it seems like a good way to increase the kv on the prop shaft. If the max allowed is 2030 t 5%, a change of gears and you could bump that up? Just wondering

AFAIK they are allowed in NAMBA. One club member races a P-Limited Mono (Titan 29) with an AQ2030 motor on a Fine gear box, it runs as fast or faster than other club boats. Gearboxes are normally run in reduction to allow larger more efficient props.

You could try overdriving the prop but you would probably accomplish the opposite of what you want. Gears are usually run so you can run a bigger or specific prop with a specific KV motor. Back in the day we had very few KV choices and limited power so we ran High KV motors and gear reduced them. I ran Most of my offshore boats that way quite successfully. (A few championships and NAMBA records)
