Default Do I need a new collar?

I have finally gotten around to installing my new prop but didn't realize my new 3 blade was larger than the stock prop. Basically, my locking nut doesn't fit back on the flex shaft. Does someone make a smaller collar that I can use or what have others done?

If your cable is long enough remove it from the boat and looosen your drive dog off. Put the nut on the tread until atleast 2 treads are sticking past it. Push your prop up against the nut and your drive dog into the prop slots and tighten. Insert cable back into boat leaving a gap the thickness of the cable between strut and drive dog. Tighten collet onto cable.

If your cable is not long enough to do the above, you will need to buy a new cable with stub.

Unfortunately, that is the furthest back the stock collar goes. I have that extra 1/4 inch shown in the picture but where I have the current collar is as far back as it'll go.

A small Octura drive dog should give you the space you need but, it has a very small grub screw that some may say is too weak.

Might need a new drive cable.

Does the stub have two different diameters? Like 5mm that rides in the bushings and 3/16" for the prop that limits you to pushing your drive dog back enough?

Well, looks like Steve at OSE can fix you up with upgrade parts. I'm not too familiar with Spartan upgrades so maybe the Spartan thread or email Steve to get it fixed up.

    What prop is that?

Cut the Prop and open up the slots a bit.

I went to the LHS and found one that was slightly smaller in length. I was able to grab about 3 threads with the locking nut.

Use some loctite, blue. You don't want to lose a nice prop.

Went to use the boat today and it could barely get on plane. I lost about 20MPH with this new prop. Something doesn't seem right.

So which prop and what is your setup? Did it sound like it was revving or like it was less rpm?

I purchased this prop from dasboata

    ABC 1615 3 blade

It really felt like less RPM.

Then it is loading the motor. Did I catch that it is a Spartan?
    Which motor?

You could try raising the strut. How big was the old prop? A1615 is only 40mm in diameter.

Yes, it's the spartan. All electronics are stock and the prop is 42mm in diameter.

I would try raising the prop up if possible.
